furniture build-out details continued bed platform a has a unique design that accepts flat sheet lumber panels with unfinished edges and milled trim pieces 1 for the bulk of the build-out these are attached with screws and/or adhesive 2 1 the ceiling panels 2 are provided by the authorized dealer and can be made from a variety of materials such as vinyl fabric stretched over a wood frame plastics panels paper or cloth covered foam-board corrugated sheet metal etc individual panels can be built and installed into the platform in a similar manner as commercial grid-mount ceiling tiles the ceiling may also be built as a traditional raised type wooden panel unit or fabric that can be stretched over a larger frame to cover the entire platform underside maximum platform weight including framework panels and trim mattress and bedding can be up to 205 pounds using sand as the counter weight fill material and up to 320 pounds using steel grit as the counter weight fill material other material such as new or used steel rod/rebar of any other combination of heavy material may be used sand maximum weight used is 100 pounds at an approximate cost of $5 regular dry and bagged play sand should be used and is available at any home improvement store throughout the us steel grit maximum weight used is 215 pounds at an approximate cost of $110 this product is available nationwide a listing of suppliers is noted in the double space bed assembly instruction manuals and is also available on-line at doublespacebeds.biz dsbs is not a supplier of this steel grit material as it is more cost effective for an authorized dealer to purchase it from region suppliers note the bed platform should be designed and built-out within the above stated weight limits keeping it as light as possible heavier loads can be accommodated with the use of the steel grit material allowing for the use of hardwoods raised type panels and heavier memory-foam or high-loft pillow-top mattress additional costs apply inter-column cabinetry b and/or lateral support panels c must be built to proper width specifications to maintain the necessary spacing between the columns d and for proper movement of the bed platform when installed this cabinetry also helps maintain lateral stability all cabinetry must be clear of the bed platform vertical travel area for designs that have a higher sleep position the cabinetry may extend outward into the alcove a 1 bdbdd 1 a c ceiling panels are placed here 2 1 b 13[close]
