provence alpes côte d azur amcham reestablishes its presence on the riviera oliver griffith f or many years france had regional chapters in the south of france paca province alpes côte d azur with the last one closing in 2000 at the initiative of côte d azur team the investment promotion agency based in the region and several existing member companies and active americans on the riviera amcham reopened a côte d azur monaco chapter during a ceremony in marseille on november 27 the chairman is serge lambert team côte d azur and the vice chairs are burton gintell sophia business angels in sophia antipolis and franco quillico andromeda consulting in monaco at the same time amcham signed a cooperation agreement with the mediterranean american business network mabn an existing business organization for marseille and the bouches-du-rhone region under the agreement amcham and mabn will exchange information to strengthen and promote trade and investment between the u.s and france members of each organization will have access to the events and activities of the other mabn and france will cohost at least one event each year at the inaugural event on november 27 amcham managing director griffith spoke on franco-american relations under the new u.s administration amcham and mabn will also promote each other as the primary source of franco-american professional contacts in each other s region mabn for bouches du rhone france and its chapters for the rest of france and exchange information on each others web-sites and elsewhere amcham regional chapters france created regional chapters in 1970 to provide a local forum for u.s companies and entrepreneurs and to create links between american and french firms and local officials and agencies these chapters are run by amcham members who work closely with the u.s consulates local development agencies and local franco-american organizations chapters vary in their structure depending on their size and longevity as in amcham ile-de-france regional chapters are open to companies of any nationality and to individuals and non-profit organizations given the smaller size of the chapters members have direct input for events and activities which can be of a business or social nature members are invited france events and have access to all to amcham services and membership benefits if you are interested in becoming a member of one of the regional chapters please contact the chairman mediterranean american business network mabn was created to reinforce and support franco-american business and cultural relations in marseille and the surrounding community founded in september 2004 with support from the u.s consulate in marseille mabn s vocation is to develop an international platform of mutual support and business networking to federate accompany and advise expatriates returning to france as well as foreign executives and to drive and organize the network s business-oriented events and share companies intercultural experiences mabn regularly holds conferences and informal english-only language apéros mabn will soon merge with its british equivalent the link l alliance franco-britannique to become the mediterranean anglo-american business network maabn to consolidate the anglo-american business community s networking efforts in the region mediterranean american business network bp 10052 13251 marseille cedex 20 france e-mail contact@mabn-online.com website http www.mabn-online.com/anglo-american-network william peterson serge lambert and oliver griffith commerce in france winter 2008 33
