what is h.i.p.p.y home instruction for parents of preschool youngsters hippy helps parents in their role as their child s first teacher by giving them the tools skills and confidence they need to work with their children in their home hippy is a parent involvement and school readiness program for 4 year olds and 5 year olds in which learning and play go hand in hand using structured curriculum in english or spanish parents encourage their children to recognize shapes and colors tell stories follow directions solve logical problems and acquire what do parents receive as a result of the program how much does it cost there is no monetary cost for families to participate in hippy program the only cost to parents is time the parent spends 15 minutes a each day working with their child a home visitor who will come to your home to role play the free hippy curriculum with you and will provide at least nine story books over a period of thirty weeks materials provided like crayons scissors pencil eraser and geometric basic shapes 30 weeks of practice lessons monthly group meetings with others parents weekly training preparing them to share educational activities with their child increased confidence to be involved in their child s education strategies to be the best advocate for their child
