Lichtenberg / CORPO 6 Herzbergstrasse: WELTSTÄDTE? “Du musst dein Leben ändern” Rainer Maria Rilke “Auferstanden aus Ruinen und der Zukunft zugewandt” Johannes Robert Becher Lichtenberg, district of the capital of German Democratic Republic, is the current eleventh borough of Berlin. Also located in the district is CORPO 6 GALERIE, an art project that, founded in April 2012, works as a cross-media, site-specific platform focused on the analysis and social identity in the urban periphery. The limen, “the other”, as a conceptual space of research. An organ of investigation and linguistic experimentation. Licthenberg is bordered on the west by Friedrichshain, with Alt- Hohenschönhausen, Marzahn, Friedrichsfelde Rummelsburg, and Fennpfuhl to the northeast -east. The year of foundation can be traced around the year 1230. In 1920, Licthenberg has been incorporated into the urban planning of greater Berlin. Venue of the Headquarters of the Nazi Wehmact, the Soviet Military Administration, and the Stasi - the GDR 's intelligence service - Licthenberg is defined by a very specific continuity of planning, in terms of administrative and military territorial control, within its popular housing. Where the prefabricated modular buildings – Plattenbau, the modernist tower blocks of the GDR, interfere with nineteenth-century industrial archeology. A deconstruction of the territory is homogeneously operated.

The north - east of Licthenberg, which is spread around multiple road networks, including that of Herzbergstrasse, is, in fact, the heart of nineteenth century industrial revolution Berlin. Retaining many industrial buildings, some of which have undergone a repurposing. The area welcomes various services - sales, commercial production and culture. It is apparent from the start, the changing configuration of the territory, where a comprehensive socio-historical composition interacts actively and critically with their own specific, physical, conformations of development . Herzbergstrasse escapes anomie, forced labor and planned identity, to become a story, a place. A project. A form of existence. With a population of 268.486 inhabitants (30 November 2012), the actual area of Licthenberg covers an extensive 52.30 km. Since the 80s the social demographic, mostly of German origin, has undergone a diversification in its identity when, following an exchange program between the GDR with the Socialist Republic of Vietnam - directed to relocate skilled labor in German territory – a nucleus of about 60,000 workers from North Vietnam were implanted. The community, however, has never experienced a full integration - the Vietnamese pregnant as a result of relationships with individuals of German nationality had two choices, abortion or forced repatriation. And so, with the fall of the wall, they have developed, along the industrial axis of Herzbergstrasse, a reality of small and medium business enterprises - almost extraterritorial in nature: the Don Xuan Centre. An autonomous zone, an enclave, identified, separated, which occupies a former industrial area. Spanning eight bodies of factory lofts; each, divided into a complex of shops and restaurants articulated along a corridor - which crosses the buildings along their longitudinal axis. Herzbergstrasse arises, therefore, as a social attractor. A new vector of social - urban - remodeling. Along the way, very close to the Don Xuan Centre - Fahbrereitschaft. This 19,000 square meter industrial GDR complex, purchased in 2012 by art collector Axel Haubrok, has been reactivated, yet retaining some existing businesses, into a center for contemporary art . Fahbrereitschaft includes spaces for art residencies, an art gallery, and a space dedicated to the entire collection of Axel Haubrok. At 55 Herzbergstrasse stands, monumental, an industrial building constructed in the early twentieth century for food and dairy product production and packaging. This building, later used for different purposes by Nazis and communist authorities, is now home to the Kunstfabrik HB55. With more than 200 ateliers, 2 exhibition spaces, and the art project CORPO 6 gallery by Fabio Campagna. Founded in April 2012, CORPO 6 (corpo meaning body in italian) is an art project that works as a cross-media, site-specific platform focused on the analysis and social identity in the urban periphery. The limen, “the other”, as a conceptual space of research. An organ of investigation and linguistic experimentation. An alchemical, living organism of production and presentation of contemporary practices and performance. CORPO 6 is a 90 square meter independent art project located on the first floor of the factory. Both Fahbrereitschaf and HB55 continue to submit to their internal commercial activities and crafts - screen printing equipment and auto-repair shops. It identifies, around Herzbergstrasse, a delicate and complex peripheral body of re-functionalization, where the spaces are reactivated into cultural services hubs. A mixed environment producing cultural services. Hybrid, where it is produced a transition, a shift in term of economic and social. Into the post-modern individual, atomized and culturalized reality. Shift that defines a limen in the city. A line of shadow, light, paradoxically, a line of demarcation. A neutral zone of redesign identity. Where workers, artists, merchants “wear”, daily, deconstructed identities. Designing a complex fluid identities, to interpret and, possibly, resist to the “homogeneous”. Lichtenberg , weltstädte ? Cities of the world , the city of the people, of freedom and creativity or a new ghetto, product of a project, always equal to itself, gentrification, exploitation and alienation ?

Probabilmente di resistenza, all’omogeno. By Aleks Slota QUIET VIOLENCE brings together 5 visual artists and 10 sound artists from Berlin to explore the implication of the concept of power in everyday life. A noise festival within an exhibit - located in HB55 Kunstfabrik , Lichtenberg, Berlin,- that will display a synergy between different languages. A vortex of visual and sound forms of expression. QUIET VIOLENCE will adopt a fluid strategy of presentation – 5 different sound stages mixed up strategically with the set up of the art works. An image of our deconstructed and complex time. The goal is about to describe the interference of the imposing and subtle structures of power within the living geography of our existence. A construction of patterns and signs. Video representations of physical spaces and spaces of memory. Impossibilities and failures. Texture of distorted soundscapes superimposed with abstract video projections. There emerges a new map. A new displacement of equilibrium. Where the invisibility of violence is dissected to allow for the emergence of new possibilities of reaction. A violence to react against. A theory of counterattack. Berlin. june. 2014 Fabio Campagna _
