the three-year track is open to all students who graduated from pre-university education vwo/hochschulereifezeugnis vocational education in a related field facilitaire dienstverlening level 4 or who can submit proof of competencies acquired elsewhere pre-university and vocational education the first year from september to the end of december you will attend the themes internal client and visitor management you will become acquainted with the international industry in various ways and you will gain practical experience in our training company `sibelicious you will also go on a one-week study trip to an english-speaking country to get acquainted with the international facility management industry in january you will start taking part in two second-year projects purchasing management and imagineering the theme week in this term will focus on the provision of information in a facility management context from may to june you will pursue the theme operations management that highlights the practical side of catering facility services hospitality and aspects of the purchasing process course planning the second year the assessments in which you need to demonstrate your professional development will take place in february assessment 1 and june assessment 2 upon successful completion of assessment 2 you will be admitted to the second year of study should the three-year track turn out to be too difficult for you you can switch to the regular four-year programme in january from september to the end of december you will work on the projects corporate real estate management and management organisation during this period you will also organise an event moreover you will prepare for your international placement from january to the end of june you will perform an international placement in a facility-related company 3-year the third year after having successfully completed your work placement you will set to work in the strategy and communication theme in september during this period you will also write your personal development plan in preparation for assessment 3 in january to prepare for the graduation phase you will also participate in a special study trip if you pass assessment 3 you will be permitted to put your personal development plan to work between january and june to this end the nhtv associate professorship in facility management commissions several international research assignments in june you will be given the opportunity in assessment 4 to demonstrate that you are competent to enter the international facility management industry if you succeed you will be rewarded with the bachelor of business administration in facility management you can also apply for the three-year programme if you are in possession of a propaedeutic certificate a higher education or university degree competencies acquired elsewhere please contact us to discuss which track would be the most appropriate in your case mail to facilitymanagement@nhtv.nl 12 13

all students who completed vocational education mbo level 4 or higher general secondary education e.g havo abitur/artium/avgångsbetyg från gymnasieskola/cou senior high school/a level baccalauréat will do the regular four-year track the first year course planning the second year the third year the fourth year each theme of the second year consists of a concrete project assignment commissioned by the facility industry these projects are executed in teams of 4 to 5 students in the first term you will work simultaneously on two real-life internationally oriented assignments focusing on the subjects of management organisation and corporate real estate management in the second term you will work simultaneously on two assignments focusing on the subjects of purchasing management and imagineering in the `activity week you will concentrate on providing information in a facility management context during this week you learn how to work with management information systems in the second year you will organise an event in may you will start with your six-month placement in an international company you have several possibilities to do an exchange programme at one of our partner universities in a final assessment assessment 4 you will convince a committee of professionals that you are ready to enter the international facility management industry in assessment 3 you must demonstrate your competency level by writing a reflection report and participating in an assessment interview furthermore you write a personal development plan in which you present and support your personal competency development plan for your graduation year a supervisor who shares your interests will coach you in taking the final step to the international facility management industry or perhaps a master programme a lot of inspiring guest lectures team discussions and independentreading of prominent literature will make you think about how to distinguish your organisation from its competitors to carry out third-year assignments you will need to study academic literature and managerial models on your own ultimately you will have to develop a clear vision of the international facility management industry learn about strategic management and account for your choices during the third year theme strategy communication in the fourth year the personal development plan will be implemented the programme is tailored to your needs and interests and allows you to transfer and lift the competencies acquired during the first three years to the required level you decide whether this entails a large-scale project a pre-master track another placement a research assignment an advanced course or a combination for example the nhtv associate professorship in facility management commissions several international research assignments the fourth and final year is based on the demand-based principle meaning you design your own plan of study for your graduation year 4-year the first academic year is divided into a number of periods each period revolves around a certain theme in the first year the following themes will be dealt with internal client focuses on the perceptions of those who use facility services visitor management the external client is the central figure operations management the focus is on the practical side of the catering facility services and restaurant industry and on aspects of the purchasing process corporate real estate management to conclude the first year you work on a real estate management project in which you use all your acquired knowledge and skills a four-week operational placement in a facility services department/firm in assessment 1 and assessment 2 you must convince a professional committee of your acquired competencies in all themes continuous interaction with the international facility management industry is secured by means of guest lectures company visits field trips and real-life assignments during each theme of the first three years relevant aspects of finance human resources management methods techniques law and fidelio property management system are tackled in lectures and workshops 14 15

practical com ponents and skills the orientation phase the specialisation phase the integration phase placements you become acquainted with the operational side of a facility services department/firm during a four-week work placement you will do a six-month placement in an international company abroad the purpose of this placement is to combine vocational and managerial experience at the `assistant to the manager level excursions a one-week field trip will be organised to an english-speaking country as well as several one-day company visits you also attend english classes a field trip will be organised with a focus on another culture and the following skills working together leadership improvisation coordination cross-cultural management and organisation credits must be earned through working in the in-house training company sibelicious working in events and pr activities english competency development training programmes methods techniques project management you will organise an international conference relating to real-life european facility management topics every year this conference is held in a different european country service points credits must be earned through working in the in-house training company sibelicious working in events and pr activities languages training skills english competency development training programmes methods techniques group dynamics fidelio front-office system presentation skills hospitality training interview skills wine course offered in cooperation with the london based wset wine and spirits education trust upon sufficiently completing the test at the end of the course students will receive an internationally recognised certificate which will serve as an entry level for other wset courses english competency development training programmes methods techniques career orientation creative day job application training cross-cultural workshop 16 17
