PRINTED MISSIONARY The Voice in the Wilderness is a nonprofit, independent incorporation, founded by Rev. Dr. J. Royce Thomason D.P.D. Ph.D., evangelist and medical missionary. The organization is dedicated to the spreading of the whole gospel to the world, especially in foreign lands. The program consists of building mission stations, supporting American missionaries and native pastors by partnering with the local church in various areas of ministry and preaching Christ to the lost. Dear Friends: In 1995 I wrote my first article for The Voice in the Wilderness magazine. Then in October 1996 my family and I moved from Montana to Dallas, Texas, joining with Dr. J. Royce Thomason and The Voice in the Wilderness ministries. As we enter our 18th year with this faith endeavor, there have been many challenges and it has indeed been an adventure in our service for Christ. Just the move itself to Dallas was quite a shock to the system. We enjoyed living in Montana and traveling extensively throughout the western United States and Canada. Texas was quite a change. Even today, the statistics are simply amazing. Presently in Dallas, “44% of the population was born in a non-English speaking nation. Some 238 languages are spoken in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex. While there are large numbers of Hispanics in the DFW area, there are also 40,000 Arabs, 90,000 Chinese, 25,000 Columbians, 5,000 Egyptians, 80,000 El Salvadorans, 7,500 Cambodians, 8,000 Bangladeshis, and many others. In 1975, there was one Islamic mosque in the entire DFW Metroplex, today there are 43, some of them quite large and prosperous.” (Bob Roberts, Jr. Bold as Love: What Can Happen When We See People The Way God Does via Prophetic Observer) It is quite evident that the demographics of America has dramatically changed even in our lifetime. The Voice in the Wilderness has chosen “Standing on Top” as the theme for our 2014 emphasis. Jeremiah 6:16 says, Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein. Monetary and member pressures are causing pastors I have known for years to acquiesce to the pressures of our day. From Bible versions, dress standards, contemporary worship, and music churches have lowered the bar. I am hearing the beat, sound, drums, and electric guitars of my unsaved teenage music days in churches that I personally have preached in. By the way, “southern gospel and bluegrass” music have gone the way of so-called “CCM.” Labels do not necessarily define good, Godly scripturally appropriate music. Some pulpits still preach the Bible (at least most of the Bible), but the stuff that precedes the sermon smacks of “rock” “pop” “country”—just say it, “the world.” Let us Stand on TOP - The Old Paths! 4•The Voice in the Wilderness - Winter 2014 Quarterly Edition

Boy Scouts Brother Williamson holds some fond memories of his scouting days. He still has his Boy Scout manual, merit badge books and his Den Chief ’s Book when he helped lead a Cub Scout group. Even though Brother Williamson was not saved during his days in scouting he learned valuable character training that originated in Scripture. That era in America is long past and perversion has hijacked the innocent and decent. The sodomites have stolen another institution that once taught manhood and godly life skills. I know pastors that only a few years ago preached out loud and clear, about worldly trends, fashions and compromise that they now silently overlook or even embrace. Who moved? Some had stood faithfully warning against Denominational drift and the dangers of contemporary/charismatic influences. Now, however, they sit on the committees, give to the co-operatives and preach the conventions. Who moved? I remember when the missionaries’ prayer cards pictured beautiful families, dressed in Sundaygo-to-meetin’ attire appropriately representing their Lord and Church. Now the fellows look like they are headed to the ball field and the ladies wear the pants for that bunch. Bible College photos and missionary reports, even if standards differed, would never have paraded such worldly dress and amusement publicly in publications and literature. Sadly, it’s no longer“in your face” its “in step with the world!” Why do we back up? Pastor, will you just examine your own ministry? 1. Is the music in your church services the kind of music that would have been acceptable 30 years ago or approved by your pastor? 2. The dress in your congregation and at church functions—was it appropriate 10, 20 or 30 years ago? 3. Are ministries, associations and organizations now on your approved list in the same category as those 25 or 30 years ago? 4. churches and leaders you have admired? 5. Does your Bible have errors or would have been better translated by a textual critic of a liberal stripe? Who Moved? In case of a move, please notify: JESUS The same yesterday, today and forever. Oh! About that “forever” ‘For ever, O LORD Thy word is settled in heaven.’ Please dear pastor, for Jesus sake, you do not need to “MOVE.” I was 17years old when I got saved. (That teenager would cruise around listening to Three Dog Night, Blood, Sweat and Tears, Grand Funk Railroad and Chicago.) Immediately I fell in love with the great hymns - Victory in Jesus, There’s Power in the Blood, Glory to His Name, Wonderful Grace of Jesus and a whole book of such songs. Today I’m hearing the beat, bass, rhythm, sound and volume of the rock music I listened to before I got saved. It has been my privilege over the past 25 years to travel across this country and around the world in ministry and worship with some of God’s choicest servants. Pastors and churches need not bow to contemporary, user friendly, worldly trends to get a crowd. I’ve seen souls saved and churches packed when the Word of God was preached straight, dress and music godly, reverent, Biblical (KJB) and traditional (fundamental) church services anointed by The Holy Spirit. You need not move. Some think they are still standing, yet they prefer The King James, the music gets “just a little beatty and loud,” holiness and separation is God’s job, and “We support that group because, well, we always have. What’s wrong with them anyway? You’re just unloving and critical.” No, a tie in the pulpit and dresses on the ladies do not make a spiritual church. Past Due For decades I have seen Bible preaching churches and hard working law abiding traditional families as somewhat of a hedge against the hostile runaway liberals in the U.S. Now after preaching the gospel for over 40 years and steadily traveling across the U.S. for the past 25 years that does not appear the case. Times and people do change. Repeatedly the promotional advertisements have presented perversion as financially profitable for our nation. Homosexuality, lotteries, and alcohol to name a few have been very political and promoted by the liberal establishment as necessary for a healthy economy. Everything from education to tourism has viewed these destructive “sins” as necessary for job growth and community prosperity. Homosexuality, from a historical prospective, aided the destructive end of people, nations and empires such as Sodom, Gomorrah, Greece, and Rome. The present administration in Washington, DC, has promoted homosexuality. Grants to schools have been made to teach homosexual awareness. Hundreds of thousands of dollars was given by the National Education Association to the Gay Lesbian and Straight Network. President Obama has appointed homosexuals to court positions. Our National Military is being used to promote the homosexual lifestyle. From the President to the Senate and liberal media this perverted lifestyle is being promoted. Yet it appears that from the pulpit to the pew there is a fear of taking a Biblical stand. nation, communities continue to pass alcohol referendums. Marriages and the lives of young people are ruined by the demons of drink. But, just off the highway exit is your local ABC or Liquor Store. Can you believe that the refrigerators of professing Christians chill their favorite booze and pastors are allowing wedding receptions to celebrate around this venomous adder? It seems to me any thinking adult individual could see through the stupidity of an education lottery. The midnight hour shenanigans of a corrupt state governor ramrodded the North Carolina education lottery through to legislation. Gambling will never benefit society nor produce any virtuous outcome. In North Carolina nor anywhere else in America has the character and academics of our school age children improved through the implementation of an education lottery. By the way, after millions of lottery dollars government schools still do not have enough money. Why in the world on a weekly basis are pastors and church teachers not screaming their hearts out concerning the godless direction of our nation? There must arise a holy boldness and righteous indignation on the part of pastors and parents. We must cry aloud and spare not. The apostle Paul wrote in I Timothy 6:10 “For the love of money is the root of all evil.” From the Governor’s House to the White House our so-called representatives fiddle with light bulbs, thermostats, and tenure while the nation burns. They have ingratiated themselves at the expense of their constituents and the love of money. Congressional Members profit from their office advantages while knowing nothing of job losses, foreclosures, increased medical expenses and utility cutoffs. guaranteed a salary far above the national average. The slap in the face continues when illegal aliens cry they have rights and are provided government housing and benefits. There must be a house cleaning in Washington to rid this nation of those money-sucking leeches. What about those global warming cruisers trapped in the disappearing arctic summer ice. At least the rescue was made in China. Never fear USA these global nuts are every where. Tragically the tide has turned. The die is cast, the vote is in and it is obvious far too many that once could be counted to at least take the conservative path are off the road and in the ditch. For generations the government has been teaching, training, indoctrinating what is now the overwhelming block of voters that will elect a President that supports homo-sexuality, abortion, illegal aliens, fiscal recklessness, constitutional demolition and a host of anti-Biblical agendas. It seems the news media, Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck, Colter, even Huckabee can’t put a finger on the cause-and-effect. Yes, the Republican party is a bunch of white males and yes, Latinos, women-libers, liberal blacks, and brain-washed youth are dominating the polls, but how is that? Colter says that we have reached the tipping point and Rush thinks we are outnumbered. But nobody seems to understand or either has the guts to expose the Devil. This is indeed a spiritual warfare for the souls of people and the nation. Evolution, perversion of varied vile sorts and a direct denial of God and His absolutes, taught by the public schools, ran by those in office now has raised up today several generations of voters that will elect the anti-christ himself. Independents pervert into just another ungodly alternative? Christian families and even pastors continue to sacrifice their children to the public schools, colleges, and universities, expecting faith to survive the endless attack on the minds and hearts of their young people. Sadly, we have farmed our heritage out to the world and now, wonder what happened and why? Tragically, America has crossed the deadline. The following is an article published in the winter 2009 edition of The Voice in the Wilderness: On April 21, 1803 Thomas Jefferson wrote a letter to Benjamin Rush expressing his opinion on religion: “My views…are the result of a life of inquiry and reflection, and very different from the anti-Christian system imputed to me by those who know nothing of my opinions. To the corruptions of Christianity I am indeed opposed, but not the genuine precepts of Jesus himself. I am a Christian in the only sense in which he wished anyone to be, sincerely attached to his doctrines in preference to all others…” Be assured, this assault by a generation of those who aggressively attack the doctrines upon which this nations was founded is no surprise. Turn back the pages of history and one can read of the ongoing war for independence. In this country liberal collectivists and totalitarians raise arms against freedom, family and faith. The theological and Biblical imperatives once taught and preached throughout the land have been eroded away by ungodly education, AWOL parents, and corrupt government. Has America crossed the deadline? The “silent majority” as described by the poet Homer were the dead. Personally, I belong to the church of the One, True and Living God, Jesus Christ, And He hath saith, “The gates of hell shall not prevail.” Evident or not, America has moved far from its founding, but the anchor for our soul is steadfast and sure. King is in the hand of the Lord. Let us not grow weary in well doing but continue to faithfully press the battle against the darkness of our day. As I reread The Declaration of Independence and ponder the egregious acts perpetrated against the colonists I cannot help thinking of the perversion of today’s U.S. government. What about the thousands of tax funded murders of babies in this country every month? Corrupted Elected officials and liberal judges are robbing our freedoms daily. If the founders had grounds to sign that document then what about NOW? The Revelator exhorts us to “hold that fast which thou hast….” From Washington, D.C., to the mega church purpose-driven movement, foundations crumble. But dear saint, “hold fast!” • It seems some have been baptized in vinegar. You can be bitter or better. It’s your choice. • Never put a question mark where God has put a period. “For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven.” • “If your outgo is more than your income, your upkeep will be your downfall.” • Don’t you long for the “good old days” when Uncle Sam lived within his income and without most of yours?

Please allow me to share something dear to our Lord’s heart. It is missions. Through The Voice in the Wilderness you have seen the great work the pastors are doing in Venezuela.
