volume 1 issue 1 december 2010 qcsd paw prints `we re just asking for two words lunch ladies seek respect and kindness ing a similar impertinence jeanie ferrara of tohickon valley elementary school says she only receives about 10-20 thank yous a day isabelle todaro also of tve says my least favorite aspect of my job is that kids are not appreciative many dont know but lunch staff appreciation week occurs once a year and yet the lunch ladies at qchs are not appreciated daily or even during their week lacava says that she puts on a daily announcement to remind students and teachers to be extra courteous and pleasant at the register that week yet lunch staff appreciation week has been pushed to the side for a few years now not only disrespect but also utter craziness consumes the two walled windowed cafeteria lacava can agree there shes had students say give me that [food without a second glance when asked to describe the lunchroom in one word junior courtney stettler said hectic both todoro and ferrara say that the noise level at tve is one aspect of the cafeteria theyd change would be the noise level see lunch p 2 megan tomlinson paw prints reporter what is this crap a quakertown community high school student asks carmen lacava head of food service at the high school she constantly receives this question lacava just wants to provide the school with healthy meals the qchs cafeteria becomes a buzz during the hours of lunch 10:45-12:15 and the chaos doesnt seem to stop till after c lunch concludes with a staff of nine women preparing most of the meals from scratch they just want to be appreciated lacava says i love my job i enjoy it so much i just wish there were more respect the qchs cafeteria staff tries its hardest to help save parents money make nutritious meals for students and even offer vegetarian options 2010 marks laccavas 12th year at the high school and the respect level has gone down since 1998 other lunch ladies in the school district are notic photo by megan tomlinson qchs can be exceedingly hectic at lunch time photo by megan tomlinson lunch ladies at qchs are just looking for some courtesy for their job inside quotes from qchs students p 2 and the two simple words they are asking for p 2

2 qcsd paw prints december 2010 lunch cont from p.1 maddie wackerman a junior at qchs says i like the food served here its not bad at all i buy 3-4 times a week and i always say thank you when asked if wackerman hears many thank yous all she said was not enough they arent asking for the students to bow down on their hands and knees to them they aren t asking for a shower of presents they arent asking those of qchs to say that they saved the world they are asking for two simple yet meaningful words thank you a school lunch usually includes a main entrée either a meat soup or starch also a vegetable fruit and a dessert mr blake is always very respectful to us especially mrs lacava head of food service at qchs photo by megan tomlinson try to be a little nicer in the lunch lines to the lunch ladies some teachers think you are just a servant jeanie ferrara lunch lady at tve kids are just not appreciative of us isabelle todaro lunch lady at tve to find out what s on the quakertown high school lunch menu go to www.qcsd.org click the administration tab then click food services and on the left hand side click on the months school menu enjoy!
