pb/bop intermediate volleyball tournament volleyball pb/bop champs y8 boys on the 4th of november the school volleyball teams participated in the pb/bop champs the year 8 boys started off their day by playing ilminster we started off well and won the first two sets but ilminster came back and cleaned up the last set to beat us by one point we progressed well throughout the rest of the day and managed to beat mount we also beat taupo convincingly because we lost our game to ilminster we qualified second in our pool this meant that we played te puke who topped the other pool and looked sharp the te puke game was an awesome game even though we finished up at the bottom end of the score card this meant that we placed third overall which was fairly good ilminster progressed to the final against te puke ilminster won the competition and we only lost to them by one point our team had some awesome rallies through out the day and enjoyed the experience luke robinson room 19 y8 girls several teams from tauranga intermediate competed in the recent year 7 and 8 volleyball tournament held in the qe2 centre our team had very good success in their pool play winning all but one of our games which put us through to the semi-finals emma bain kyla sivka shvaughan ririnui alescha symes taylor manville moana whare brooke somerfield and i worked really hard and won the semi-final against rotorua we played ilminster in the finals and after an even game both teams gave their all unfortunately ilminster won by 3 points we had a fantastic day and overall came 2nd for year 8 girls hannah cundy rm 19 y7 girls the year 7 girls team was coached by whaea sam the team had only formed 3 weeks prior to the tournament and had many training sessions including some 7am starts there were 5 teams in our pool rotorua otumoetai mount maunganui whakatane and tauranga intermediate our first game was against rotorua and we were feeling great after a convincing win our next game was against otumoetai if we werent already feeling really good about our performance against rotorua we extended that further after another win against otumoetai having won all of our games so far we were feeling really good only for that feeling to be snuffed out because we lost our next game against whakatane determined to make a comeback we knew we had to win the next game to be in the finals the game was against mount maunganui a close match finishing in a draw it was a nervous wait while points for and against were counted to determine the finalists unfortunately we didnt make the finals on countback by a mere 2 points finishing in 3rd place a good result for a new team with little time to prepare but look out for an even better result next year mackenzie kiernan rm 5 y7 boys 8 year 7 boys represented tauranga intermediate school at the pb/bop volleyball tournament held at qe2 centre we had a great determination shown by all the guys and went on to win the final and were the only tauranga intermediate team to win in the finals andrew somerfield rm 5 winning y7 boys team
