Ruma Iwa Class Newsletter Term 3 Week 10 Kia Ora Katou The end of the term is upon us and it has flown by. Term 3 has seen some fantastic progress and achievements this term. These include: • The growth in understanding about sustainable practices when dealing with waste. All the students can articulate how recycling is sorted and reprocessed. In addition, students have set a goal for the term on how they are going to make a difference to managing waste. • Great progress made by all students in reading, writing and maths. This is evidence by their standardised test results. • Talent show Final. Ella, Rachel, Kelsey and Finlay raised several hundred dollars for Ronald McDonald House through their organisation of the Talent Show. • The Oaklands School Quiz Night where nearly $4000 was raised for the Year 8s’ trip to Wellington in Term 4. • Writing Week - especially the Book Character Parade! We have already begun planning for Term 4. There are a number of exciting events next term to watch out for: •Formal Dance - all students will be Dancing with the Stars as they learn the waltz, foxtrot etc in preparation for the Formal and School Production. •Year 8 Trip to Wellington. •Science Workshops with a specialist Science Teacher. Students will be learning about NZ’s Identity which will focus on how NZ’s history has impacted it today.
