editorial insight stuck in a team rants mike velez [but how tall was the sparkler what i like to drink in the morning coffee what else my funniest fireworks moment was looking up at a sparkler who will win the following titles this year f1 super cross nba nascar ferrari bubba kobe and ricky bobby corner derek buono [better than a magic snake fight what i like to drink in the morning coffee dark and some sugar my funniest fireworks moment was having a roman candle fight with 4 other people who will win the following titles this year f1 super cross nba nascar button bubba lebron and a red neck we were racing at oc/rc raceway in huntington beach california and i was turn marshalling most indoor and outdoor tracks have a similar issue corner marshalling positions are hard to think of when designing a track and where they are needed the most can often block half the track.2 and oddly the places where you normally don t need help if you crash there can take the most time to receive assistance oh yeah and it s not the turn marshal s fault that you crashed either t hose who have put up with my confusing grammatically incorrect and/or angry editorial may know that i don t often beat around the bush when i see something that is dumb i don t let it be dumb i point at it and laugh.1 so the other day something happened to me that made me think why the hell is this happening and so i couldn t run out without breaking my neck as i walked over to the car stuck against a pipe he backed up fixed himself and drove away.3 as i stood there i thought why the hell can t we use reverse and i couldn t come up with an answer why can t we is it because our sport mirrors real racing and backing into traffic would endanger a life or is it cost back in the day i guess having a reversing car was expensive but in today s market are those ideas or thoughts still valid i have to say at this point it s not a rational rule yet one of those blue laws that is stuck in a different era.4 what bothers me more why haven t we changed that some rules should change with the times back in the day we had little 1/10-scale cars and most weren t that fast now we have 50-mph bricks jumping 15 feet in the air and yet we allow corner marshals to jump in the way of these things to flip them over i ve seen a few people take a 1/8-scale to the head and go to the hospital what if we allowed reverse and the car stuck didn t need to have a person rescue it that would keep the person out of the danger zone and people on the stand would yell less.5 it seems simple to me most cars have some sort of reverse these days even nitro backing up doesn t put other drivers in danger it s not a cost issue and it would make for happier drivers what are we waiting for i m not sure for now we re stuck in corners waiting for help my funniest fireworks moment was family friend blowing a hand off with an old school m-80 who will win the following titles this year f1 super cross nba nascar hamilton
