november 15th 2010 volume 2 issue 9 siminterior designs ltd an idea by madison1909 by okadoka editor grab your morning cup and enjoy this issue whenever we are treated to a new expansion pack part of the fun is discovering new items and interactions available to our sims the late night expansion pack is no exception this time around we are treated to apartment and high rise lifestyles many simmers have found the apartments or lofts to small for their sims needs especially if they want to start a family a solution for this is to build your own apartment this is not for the inexperienced builder though you can find a tutorial and the steps necessary for building your own apartment here at snooty sims http snootysims.com/forums/viewtopic.php f=43&t=33835 for building a new residential lot or for remodeling this pack brings new tools to the builder among these we have the platform tool which allows us to create focal points for a room whether it is a platform for a bed or a dance floor or a stage for musical instruments adding platforms to your rooms draws attention to that item and gives style to your build we also have elevators and half walls elevators are self-explanatory just remember when you place them to build at least a 2x2 cube of wall panels all the way from the ground floor each floor you want to exit on don t forget to leave adequate space in front of the entrance for sims to move about with half-walls selectable from the wall tool in build mode you can select a handful of different designs plain walls or lattice or glass along the top with a half wall you can section off areas of rooms for staircases or eating areas from the cooking areas in a kitchen outside and now inside our sims homes we can now create many new pool designs with the pool upgrades late night allows us to build pools indoors make sure you are at least one level above ground and nothing is underneath it the shape of the pool is entirely left to your imagination as the pool tool incorporates a series of rounded and corner pieces both convex and concave the pieces come in multiple sizes that can be adjust with the two slider bars another new tool that lets us add style to our builds is the fountain tool this tool is great for making your commercial lots and home lots of celebrities a bit swankier the fountain tool allows us to make fountains interactive this tool can be found in build mode right next to the pool tool when you begin to create your fountain it looks much the same way as a pool only a very shallow pool with fountains though sims cannot enter the water surrounding the fountain they can only observe the fountain cont on page 7 special points of interest · design star challenge mixology triple take bedroom living homeless member spotlight kneal · · · · inside this issue design star challenge triple take bedroom mixology late night dscry.cont living homeless in twinbrook sims 3 site news member spotlight kneal pg 2 pg 3 pg 4 pg 6 pg 8 pg 10 pg 11[close]

page 2 volume 2 issue 9 by linday for the halloween challenge the contestants were presented with another twist after selecting the pattern and item they wanted to work with they were told to switch forcing the designers to start all over again with something completely different we were excited to see the results and once again the contestants really stepped up and delivered we saw some seriously creepy rooms you may wonder how it is possible to incorporate a torture bench or a spiked chair into a fairly normal-looking room but these guys did it lightside was awarded design of the week for his dark and gothic room smokytopaz went a less obvious route with her design but although creative she was eliminated this round kudos to her for really showing us how she belonged in this competition after being cut in the first round and then being voted back in inspired by the release of late night the remaining four were now told to design a space for the club lolita as you all might have learned by now there were a twist or two actually the contestants were assigned a color palette containing the brightest shade of pink ever seen and they were asked to pick a space out of the following four possibilities a vip lounge a bar a restaurant and a public coed bathroom kementari was the last one to post her choice for a space and was stuck with making the dreaded bathroom which she nailed and she was the one awarded design of the week this round was the toughest yet as all the designs were stunning but in the end ruthless was eliminated after making a vip lounge we have now reached the last challenge before the finals and the remaining three designers will now be doing something completely different oh yeah this challenge create a kindergarten containing a sleeping area eating area learning area and play area suiting the needs and wants of five demanding kiddie clients game play tip the first thing the client considers is if you added all of the required objects if you missed any such as a sink in a bathroom you are penalized the sims3 game collectors guide[close]

page 3 volume 2 issue 9 triple take bedroom makeover as usual kailead has promised the world to another client she of course is not the one doing all of the work she loves the triple take theme so much that when one single client comes in with a teeny tiny little dilemma she just can t resist offering three complete takes on it to be sure the client leaves content the latest dilemma was a case of a gorgeous bedding set without a home our designers had to come up with an entire room design based on the bedding set and colour palette radiant red created a gorgeous suite with an eye catching carpet as the focal point this cozy room has the ambiance of summer travels with the trunk at the end of the bed the bright sunny colours and variety of well selected accent pieces and did i mention the gorgeous rug bird brings us a bold and fun room beckoning us to enjoy sweet dreams the accents here create such a pleasant air of whimsy from the dangling stars to the wall tattoo to the dream catcher note that we have another gorgeous area rug here which reminds us that you can really add quite a kementari took an elegant approach to the theme airy sheers dangle from the bed frame creating a subtle air of romance accenting the room we see delicate bird cages and candles leaving us feeling dreamy just imagining a night spend in this bed as always our resident designers pull through and live up to the standards that keep our boss kailead happy.[close]

page 4 volume 2 issue 9 mixology is one of the finer arts that has been added to the sims 3 through late night it is a form of entertainment that refreshes and at the same time a delicate science many sims aspire to reach the pinnacle of this art so they can name a drink after a fun friend crazy comrade a lover quitoxic kumquat or a foe agitated adversary whatever the reason for wanting to study mixology there are many ways to go about achieving that goal the easiest way but not necessarily the faster route is to purchase a bar for your home lot and just start mixing drinks another way is to read books on the topic there are three books to get you started on your path a third way is to take a mixology class at one of the restaurants in town once you have dabbled in the art you can earn a few extra bucks moonlighting moonlighting will also build the sims skill as they earn cash remember when practicing your drinks don t always have to be something fancy you can use the make quick drink option to whip up something simple and fast these quick drinks will fulfill your thirst but will not alter your mood once your sim has reached the third level of this art they can begin to make party mood drinks party drinks are fun they put all your guests in a good mood thus you have a successful party reaching the next level allows your sim to make skill-gain drinks bet you never thought that drinking for success was the answer but for our sims it is just sipping on these smartypants beverages your sim will receive the cerebral boost moodlet which will increase the rate at which your sim learns another level up and your sim can be don juan the ladies will think it was him getting them so romantic when it was only the romantic drinks he served them these types of drinks make the sim who drinks them more apt to reply positively to romantic socials level six allows your sim to rename a drink they have created by level seven your sim will have the opportunity to moonlight another level up and your sim no longer needs to suffer the wrath of other sims with negative moods the ability to create moodlet removal drinks is powerful these negative moods bring everyone down so why not have your sims serve up this cocktail to a worry wart and wash that mood away after banishing the negative moods your sim will gain the ability to make crazy mood drinks crazy mood drinks by category name alone has to leave you smiling these beverages are fun to create and serve it encourages the drinker to do silly insane stuff they wouldn t do otherwise that going wild moodlet they receive will have the dancing on the tables half the night energy drinks are another category of drinks a good mixologist must learn to make low on energy or notice a sim nodding off at the bar offer them an energy drink and they will receive the wide awake moodlet this moodlet has the same effect as taking a nap still after learning to mix all the drinks mentioned above it is the ultimate top level that your sims will want to reach that pinnacle is not easy to achieve and takes lots of time building the skill maybe the top level the pinnacle is really the ultimate in romance drinks when your sims reaches this level and can finally name a drink they have created after another sim when the other sim drinks the drink that is named after them they like the creator of the drink even more this will most definitely help build the relationship be forewarned though it doesn t just work on the person you named the drink after so serve this drinks with caution it also has the effect on other sims as well if another sim drinks a drink created and named for another sim they will also gain a small relationship boost with whomever the drink was named for there are other perks that come from meeting the goal of reaching the top in this science your sim will be named a professor of drinks and will have an increase in relationship with every customer they serve.[close]

page 6 volume 2 issue 9 there are also different categories of fountain sizes and shapes from a very small sprinkle to a massive gusher you can also place a fountain inside of your pool keep in mind though a sim will not swim through the fountain but around it for those whose primary interest in the game is decorating half walls are a great addition as well as the new feature of adjusting the wall decor the ability to adjust the height of paintings and photographs is a godsend to many a decorator wanted to customize their rooms just a bit more to move your wall decor up or down on the wall just select what item you want in buy mode then or use something already on the wall then grab it with the hand tool hold down the mouse button and you will see your cursor turn into an up-down arrow letting you know you are in height adjustment mode you can then move it up and down the wall until you get it placed at your ideal height lightening is important to the decorator as well it sets the mood for the room late night brings more lamps and fixtures along with two new categories of lights for clubs gobo lights and strobe lights gobo lights have several patterns waves circles diagonals and more for the decorator to experiment with to brighten up a room you can also change the motion and speed of the light to direct the movement strobe lights differ in that they flicker on and off at a quick pace with the strobe light you have the ability to send pops of color light into an area to create the scene of the room you can also adjust the flash rate another way to add ambiance to a room or lobby of a commercial lot is to incorporate a fish tank a new way to enjoy the fish tanks in late night is with the new in-wall digital fish tank this tank uses a remote control to tend to the needs of the fish so sims will no longer be stuck with that stinky fish flake smell on their fingers when feeding fish on their way out the door try using these large in-wall fish tanks as room dividers the effect is very pretty and soothing what would an expansion pack be without a couple of surprises two things that surprised me when redecorating one of my sims homes is that you can now recolor the toilet paper and the soap i was amazed by that someone enlighten me if it was possible previously speaking of bathrooms did you know that if a male sims is having a drink and goes to use the urinal the ledge on top of the urinal acts as a drink holder until he is done two cute new gnomes are included in this pack as well the vampire gnome and the celebrity magic gnome vampire gnomes will turn teddy bears and i haven t yet found a celebrity magic gnomes so i am not sure what they do surprise new interactions are make a move sit talk while drinking dance up on the bar and tables go skinny dipping steal the clothes from sims who are skinny-dipping leaning on a wall while talking to a sim and trip another sim there are also vampires bar room brawls and scandals what fun looking to make your vampy more authentic you can go into cas and select the vampire teeth by using the unlockoutfits on cheat in the create a sims clothes and outfits of service sims added you must enter the cheat before you use to access create a sim the vampire teeth are located in accessories don t forget to turn it back to off when done with the unlockoutfits off cheat game play tip every hot tub has a slot for a stereo place a small stereo in the slot so you can have music going while soaking which is also a mood booster the sims3 game collectors guide[close]

page 8 volume 2 issue 9 living homeless in twinbrook by okadoka ima and the explorer considered all the possibilities as to why this man who identified himself as li yuan would make this offer to ima still not being able to make sense of it ima decided she wanted a little adventure in her life she had been working so hard to give ritchie the normal life of most young boys she was going to see what this adventure would bring she was not however going to bring ritchie with her she didn t want him in danger if this was any kind of a trap after a good night s sleep she asked a kind villager nuwa zu if she could sit with ritchie for the day explaining she had a few things to do so while ima was out on her quest of collecting 5 metals to bring to li yuan ritchie chatted with mrs zu and even had some friendly games of chess with her ima found the metals sooner than she thought and approached li yuan s home to bring them to him mr li yuan explained his need for this metals to ima he wants to build a powerful telescope and these metals will be the frame he pays her 20 ancient coins and 100 simoleons for her troubles yet asked her for another favor this time he wanted her to locate two old common relics explaining they could be found in dig sites or tombs he would like these relics so that he can have them melted down and turned into a lens ima spends a bit of time locating the relics but she is able to do so before lunch she returns to li yuan and offers them to him again he rewards her with 20 ancient coins and 250 simoleons he tells ima there is yet another problem in constructing the telescope it appears the lens has now been damaged he know someone nearby who could repair it but he doesn t have the time to take it in would ima do perhaps be able to bring the lens to get it repaired for him if so he will reward her she agrees and takes the lens not far across town to lu zhi lu zhi is very skilled at what she does and is able to repair the lens quickly she treks back to li yuan and gingerly hands him the repaired lens he thanks her with more ancient coins and 300 simoleons he now has only one last difficulty in getting this telescope completed he would like to test it at night but the neighbors all leave their lights shining to brightly would she if it is not too much trouble approach a few neighbors and ask them if they will turn out their lights she agrees to visit his three closest neighbors and ask their assistance with li yuan s project well it wasn t as hard as ima thought it would be these were all locals she had met in town before bao louie adaeze min and the lens repairer lu zhi the all agreed as they thought mr yuan s project was a worthy one she returned to mr yuan and reported the results her thanked her again immensely and paid her 80 ancient coins and 800 simoleons although she had a fun day on this quest and meet a few new people it was now evening time and she was missing ritchie she headed back to base camp over a nice dinner of homemade egg rolls ima shared her stories of adventure with ritchie he sat listening wide eyed and felt proud of his mother as she told him of the rewards they also reaped that day but tomorrow she promised him they would go on a quest of their own she had a special place planned for ritchie it would be their last day in china and she wanted him to remember it as an adventurous one they awoke early and filled their stomachs on a breakfast of grape pancakes ritchie was so excited mother would not tell him the name of this secret place they were going they headed out right after breakfast taking a scenic route by bicycle and collecting gems and other treasures they came across on the way after what seemed like forever to a ten yr old excited boy they finally arrived at the destination when ritchie saw the terracotta army before him he could not believe the splendor as he studied the massive statues ima explained the history of the terracotta army to him it is said that the emperors of the old would need a great army to escort them into the underworld so vast platoons of terracotta soldiers were made from ancient clay and erected here on the site where the emperor s physical body was buried ritchie examined the clay hooves of the horses he tried to look beneath them to see if he could discover the tomb of the dragon emperor it was now nearing dinner time and they needed to get back to the base camp and pack their things after dinner their cab would arrive and bring them to the airport ritchie vowed he would come back one day to look for that tomb of the dragon ima smiled for she knew he would game play tip expect a beautiful vista moodlet when ascending to the top of the peak with the crane master martial arts park the sims3 game collectors guide[close]

page 11 volume 2 issue 9 member spotlight on kneal by okadoka meet kneal the creator of joselli the runner up in the international edition of siminterior designs next top model competition kneal wowed the judges week after week with her creations this competition helped kneal learn new skills that were necessary for her final week entry she had to learned those skills quickly as time was of the essence watch out contenders in the next cycle there will be no holding her back she doesn t consider herself a builder or sim creator i disagree with her on that point judge for yourself check out her studio at the sims3 official site for homes commercial lots and sims she has created i decide to interview kneal initially because of the wow factor she had joselli bring to the sntm competition after speaking with kneal i decided you readers know mostly about those skills so i decided we should explore kneals favorite aspect of the sims3 she loves to play the game itself imagine that i know many of you do not play it but for those of us who do love the game i thought it would be nice for kneal to share her game play experiences with us as well as some insights about her builds and sims oka although you don t feel that you are a lot builder or sims creator i see some very nice lots and sims you have created in your studio at the sims3 site two of my favorite builds of yours are the murphy family home with the locket family and the hershey night club commercial lot what can you tell us about the construction of these two lots kneal the murphy home was actually called lakefront dream home but was uploaded a few times and that was likely one of the last names of the current family members living there i found that house plan online and loved the wraparound porches and the loft area upstairs so i did my best to construct it in anticipation of the late night expansion i had become kind of tired of waiting for it and felt that a club spot the hershey night club was overdue in my neighborhood i liked those brick buildings already in downtown sunset valley so i decided to renovate one as the club spot finally my sims had somewhere they could go and book events that had the lights music the lounges the whole club atmosphere oka do you continue to play the locket family what have their lives changed or advanced with each new expansion pack added since they were created kneal yes i do from the original locket family members that were there now only their oldest daughter summer remains she s a grandmother now living there with one of her newly divorced daughters and two teenaged grandchildren i m sure since late night has been added those two teens are looking forward to getting into a lot of action after dark oka what is the most interesting trait you have given a sim you created what made this particular trait interesting for that sim kneal the most interesting trait i ve used would be the insane trait the things those sims do when they are insane is hilarious i always choose my sims traits for them but somehow this one slipped past me she would do things like go outside in her underwear or simply cut off from conversation with another sim and begin talking to herself she would[close]

page 12 volume 2 issue 9 also go to work in her swimsuit and work out in her formal wear it was entertaining to watch but i couldn t stand to see her that way for long before i felt the need to adjust her traits oka do you have an sims that are collectors that you are currently playing what do they like to collect how close are they to collecting the entire set kneal i have one sim i have been playing since last year that has mastered every skill and continues to build up the categories for collecting she was my first and only sim to make ambrosia she mostly collects seeds even though i thought she was further along her journal reads she s only collected a little over half right now i just realized her journal reads that she has only collected half because she collects them mainly to plant for the produce not to save as a collection i really don t have any sims that collect bugs or rocks or anything like that just for the sake of collecting oka when creating your sims do you prefer to spend more time on their features or on their fashion why kneal i spend more time on their features i like for my sims offspring to be good-looking also i play my game using the epic lifespan option and i usually have aging turned off from time to time the same sim families i played with last year i m playing their grandchildren now i have a very personal connection to all my sims i know all of their names histories grandparents and great-grandparents so i m much more attentive to their features being that i ll be looking at them for a very long time oka have you used the new breast and muscle sliders in cas yet how would you rate the new tool kneal i have used them to create a few sims in town i give them 10 out of 10 they add more variety in the game and more detail to the sims oka which of the new instruments that came with late night is a favorite for your sims to play kneal i like the drums the best donovan joselli s fiancé has become quite skilled on them it won t be long before he s ready to join a band oka your model joselli did an excellent job in the sntm cycle 6 competition when the final round of the competition was presented how challenging was it to come up with your theme how did this final round differ vastly from the others in making your video what was the most stressful part which part are you are now glad you learned what advice would you pass on to people considering entering a model in the next competition kneal for the final challenge i just selected some of my favorite outfits for each dress category the final round was more challenging than the others because i hadn t known how to use some of the features of the game and the pc to make the fashion video the most stressful part was trying to edit and upload the video i didn t know how to upload it online in the end i m glad i learned how to use the tools i likely wouldn t have learned how to use the in-game camera or the windows movie maker if not for the competition requiring it the advice i would pass on to others is to just give it a try and have fun with it it was a fun competition and participating made me a better gamer and creator before this competition i hadn t ever even used any photo editing software i learned so much in a few short weeks oka which feature of the new late night pack are you most enjoying which feature is joselli enjoying kneal i welcome the change of scenery this was my first expansion pack i also like the nightly hotspots being featured and that we are invited to attend other sims parties instead of having to throw our own all the time joselli is enjoying the fame sntm has brought her and the work opportunities in bridgeport where she[close]

volume 2 issue 9 page 13 gets regular calls to model or show her face at various venues and events around the city she s quite a celebrity around town and is doing what she loves oka speaking of the beautiful sims you ve have created do you have any future plans for joselli kneal joselli scored a cute little high-rise condo when she came to bridgeport she s just busy working promoting and having fun i expect that she ll reach her goals of becoming a renowned model and celebrity because she s doing so well she s also now engaged to her longtime childhood friend donovan they have planned to wed back home in st thomas in a beautiful beach ceremony with their families and friends present you guys can look forward to those upcoming wedding story photos being shared on mypage at the sims 3 site kneal007 or http www.thesims3.com/mypage oka you mention that joselli is doing so well on her goals to become a renowned model and celebrity has she on her way to the top been the subject of false allegations against her by the media if so has she taken the matter to court and sued for slander would you like to share the outcome of her case with us kneal joselli has been the subject of various rumors spreading around town it always upsets her to hear her name being associated with such scandalous happenings luckily for her she s been able to dispel those rumors just by addressing them with the public directly her fans and friends have been very supportive for the most part oka does joselli have a butler now that she is on her way to being a celebrity if so how is he working out for her kneal no she doesn t have a butler at this time she s hardly ever at home other than to sleep and get dressed before she s off to another day of work and social networking oka when joselli and donovan go out clubbing which of the new nightclubs included with late night is her favorite to patron what does this club offer that the others do not which is joselli s favorite drink when she imbibes kneal the grind is joselli s favorite club it always features the biggest crowd turnout and the best music there s never a dull night there her favorite drinks are the fanfizz and the rockin roller oka what do you feel is one the biggest drawback to being a celebrity what do you feel is the greatest benefit kneal joselli expresses her main concern being people aren t really getting to know her for who she is she feels they re mostly star-stricken and may only be accepting of her and surrounding for her being a name in the spotlight not as joselli porter on the other hand them being star-stricken gets her all the freebies around town she s invited to the most exclusive parties and clubs and hangs out with the biggest celebrities there s nothing but fun in that oka have any of your sims made any of the new food recipes available with late night if your sims haven t cooked any of the new dishes at home which of the new menu items have the sampled while dining out kneal because joselli is rarely home she s always dining out of course part of her job is maintaining her figure so when she s not eating a salad she s stealing nibbles of food from donovan s plates no one can resist wings and onion rings![close]
