the trip is planned and organised by a company called world challenge and they really make an effort to keep you off the tourist track and make it a totally unique experience our trip was geared at leadership experiences and the pupils were in charge of everything including taking specific days as the leader for that day dealing with all logistics transport accommodation food etc a lot of emphasis was put on being able to work through problems that were encountered taking initiative and working through the process of plan do review conclude transfer and thus pupils were encouraged to learn from their mistakes and build valuable leadership skills overall the trip was divided into three phases a building project in a remote village where we helped extend a church building a trek phase where we camped and hiked in a jungle in a national park and a rest and relaxation phase where we chose to go to the nearest island for two days to chill-out island style i can certainly say it was a trip to remember with the heat food language barrier and getting totally immersed in the culture it was not your average tourist trip a very big thank you to all of you who helped plan encourage and supported and made it all possible the kids are already excited to plan the next one kerry martin thailand 2013
