springston school a 16-20 leeston road springston 7616 p 03-329-5724 f 03-329-5731 14 here-turi-kk august2013 e w b from the principal kia ora koutou our newsletter is a day early this week because the school office will be closed tomorrow friday phone messages will be cleared but the office will not be manned for payments etc mufti day tomorrow the children in room 5 are running a mufti day tomorrow which you have already been emailed about it is maths week this week so we will be on the look out for mufti outfits with a mathematical theme for some extra special attention but this is not compulsory payment is by way of a voluntary donation that will go towards supporting the sturgess children who have had to move out of their home following a devastating fire last week we will be presenting the family with vouchers so that they can purchase what they need most thank you all for you kind offers of help and support for the family this week we have been passing these on it is always amazing to see a community like ours swing into action to provide assistance in a time of crisis derek wenmoth seminar the presentation on tuesday night coincided nicely with the start of our building project we really can t wait to share our new learning spaces with you many thanks to those who came along to hear derek s message about change and how technology will continue to impact on our lives children born after 1995 have never known a world without the internet and are referred to as `digital natives so i am not sure what that makes those of us born in the early 60 s we hope that this session was thought provoking for you there was certainly plenty of talk afterwards and we look forward to carrying on this type of discussion with you as we continue to implement modern learning strategies here at springston many of things derek talked about are already underway here a testament to the quality of our teaching staff my thanks to the board of trustees for initiating this event here is a link that will take you to some of the photos derek shared last night worth a look http core-education-modern-learning-enviroments watch the spelling of that last word it doesn t look right but it is ero review a reminder that staff have a very busy week coming up book week and an ero review at the same time if you are wanting to meet with one of the teachers next week please do make an appointment in advance as we have multiple meetings scheduled thank you for your support with this easy money if you have the time to take a quick on-line general knowledge quiz each day then you could be earning money for our school while you do it please read the information on the next page about this easy fundraising opportunity share it with as many people as you can and get started at the moment joyce and i have made $5.60 for the school not in work time of course ng mihi ki a koutou katoa liz weir principal
