springston school a 16-20 leeston road springston 7616 p 03-329-5724 f 03-329-5731 e office@springston.school.nz w www.springston.school.nz b springstonschoolnews.blogspot.com 7 june 2013 from the principal kia ora koutou the sharp eyed amongst you will have already noted our new improved website which went live last week this new look is the result of hours of work led enthusiastically by carol kendall this site has a much more modern look and contains a wealth of information about the school along with links to all the blogs a new up to date school events calendar and a facebook feed you can also download enrolment forms and access all school polices please do take the time to check out the new site and let us know if there is anything you think could be added fonterra milk for schools our school is now part of the fonterra milk for school programme this is a voluntary programme which sees fonterra providing a daily 180ml serving of milk to primary school aged children coming home today is a fact sheet about the programme on the reverse side of the sheet you will find a return slip for those of you who do not wish your child to be involved or for those children who have a milk intolerance or allergy please return this asap so that we have a firm record of the children who will not be involved you only need to send a slip back if you are withdrawing your child from the programme children will still be able to opt in and out on a daily basis they do not need to drink the milk if they do not feel like it school zone alterations following the ministry announcement last week that greenpark school is to officially close at the end of this year we have been notified that our school is now operating under a special enrolment scheme this means that the physical boundary of our school zone has been extended and we are now to enrol all children living within the defined boundary a copy of this notice is attached to this newsletter and we will alter the zone information on our school web site to reflect this new zone as yet i have no information on alterations to the bus runs no doubt this will follow and you will be notified accordingly if you have any questions about the new zone please do not hesitate to make contact bot elections the official results of the recent bot elections are posted on the second page of this newsletter thank you very much to all of those who made themselves available for election it was fantastic to see the school get so much support at a time when other schools are struggling to get enough people to fill the vacant positions i am sure we will be able to find other fruitful ways to keep those of you who were not successful this time involved in the school s on-going activities ng mihi ki a koutou katoa liz weir principal a special thanks to sam recently a courier from ellesmere transport arrived at school to collect a large number of boxes there were no adults around so without any prompting sam offered to help our courier was so impressed she later visited the school with a small gift for sam she commented that it is very rare for a child to go out of their way to help her thank you sam you are a great ambassador for our school.

pasta fundraiser accompanying the fonterra milk for schools form and kidsfest booklet home today is a pasta vera order form this fundraiser is to help the year 8 trip to wellington orders and payment need to be back to the office by 28 june delivery day will be friday 5 july 2.30pm paint it black next friday 14 june room 7 are running a paint it black mufti day in support of the all blacks in conjunction with their icy slicy for a gold coin donation children can come along dressed in black in support of our national rugby team remember icy slicy orders need to be back to the office on monday 9am school resources while you are searching around the house for any sports uniforms you may have forgotten to return please check for any school resources eg library books class readers journals etc that may be at home as well and return if found eco warriors well done to the eco warriors who ran workshops throughout the whole school to find out what they could do to make our school even better if you would like a photo these may be found on the envior blog allana reading tutors if you have a good listening ear and love to hear a range of new stories then being a reading amnesty sports tutor is the job for you time uniforms and day arranged to suit you and if your child/children have full training given let helen competed in a school event over know if you would like to help the last two years can you out helen.hogarth please check at home for any @springston.school.nz sports uniforms polo tops shorts tracksuit jacket or pants facebook page check out our facebook page that may have missed being and see what is happening at our returned to school we are school missing quite a few pieces of uniform sign out book these may be dropped at the if you are taking your child out office of class during school time for an appointment please come pool keys please return to pool key to the into the office and sign them out remembering of course to office sign them back in on their return.
