bryanston high school newsletter #3 of 2013 9 may bryanston.com bryanstonhighschool @bryanston_high rest of the cast whom you may or may not book now recognize but will love only four shows teresacook@bryanston.com all the same in fact being it s that time of the year again while a part of the school productions is everyone else is out enjoying their such a thrilling experience that even saturdays the major production crew old pupils have returned to participate is hard at work this year bryanston in any way possible while some are high presents the timeless classic of just popping into the occasional footloose a well known play and rehearsal to reminisce the old times movie that has been enjoyed by and lend a helping hand where many time and time again it has an they can others have a easy to follow and relatable story of larger role in the the new kid in town the audience can show v i d sing along to the well known fun gobac songs and if they have never seen matriculated from this production before they bryanston in 2009 and any are sure to have the of us who knew him were aware of catchy tunes playing in his great musical talent now he is their heads for days after seeing it back to take a place in the show s now band as the drummer another former as with every year there is an bryanstonian is stella sfarnas who amazingly talented and diverse cast matriculated in 2011 and has of old and new members our leading been a part of many bryanston man henrique tarrao is a new face productions now she has to the bryanston stage but he will taken over the role of undoubtedly leave a lasting choreographer not an easy impression alongside him will be job i might add so many jordan van der vyfer who has been thanks to her a part of the drama family before but another new face in the family not for a few years it is refreshing to is musical director kevin see new faces showing off their feather an actor and singer talent not to mention the talent of the himself as well as kerry w no oigac tt otlu se o martin joining the band as the guitarist hopefully with a new input of style and knowledge the show will have all new elements and added spices to it to keep the productions exciting i am sure everyone is making them feel welcome and i hope they enjoy being a part of the show as you can see this is not one to miss the show will run from the 21st until the 24th of may so make sure y o u get tickets early and grab the good seats there are just days to go and plenty of work to still be done so everyone involved will be working hard and under a lot of pressure as friends and family of the cast and crew as well as a bryanstonian please support this phenomenal annual event it is sure to be a fantastic one and will leave you with that happy bubbly feeling inside see you there this year s annual major production footloose will be held on tue 21st may at 3 p.m wed 22nd thu 23rd and fri 24th at 7 p.m tickets are r30 r50 r50 and r100 respectively book now

is true blue rugby history was made yet again at bryanston when we hosted two australian rugby sides from the 16th to 18th of april the u16 s and first team played the touring sides where some great rugby was played by both sides and great experience was gained playing the visitors a big thank you to all the students and parents who hosted the sides the australians were extremely complimentary and expressed to our coaches what a lovely school environment we have and what great families our students come from it was a great opportunity for the australians to experience our culture and way of lifestyle we trust we have formed a bond and we will be able to visit their country in the future on the 26th to the 30th of april the first rugby team travelled down to kzn to participate in the annual kzn festival the team bonded as a formidable entity playing excellent rugby sticking to a game plan and winning both their matches against kingsway and pinetown boys this allowed the team to finish in the top ranking of the tournament these were good results and was an opportunity for the boys to bond with the team they also spent most of sunday enjoying the ushaka marine world we trust that this tour will help lay the foundation for the rest of the season to come ross schwartz captain of rugby the tennis club that meets at the bhs courts every saturday afternoon is looking for new members and it would be wonderful if some of the school parents could join us we have twenty-five members and apart from the tennis we have occasional social events we always play doubles and the tennis is informal great fun and quite competitive we have a committee the chairman being harry calver and he would love to hear from you on 083 308 4703 ex-teacher offering tuition math afrikaans english biology extra tuition in math afrikaans english biology in the bryanston area references available on request excellent track record of getting results contact elize 082 463 0629

soweto open tennis bryanston high s cayley jorgensen is one of 15 south africans to get accepted into the soweto open tennis tournament this is south africa s top tennis event and part of the atp challenger tour/wta womens itf tour with the women s prize purse at $50 000 it attracts top seeds from around the world with this year s tournament attracting players from 51 countries the top seeded south african lady is currently ranked 114 in the world cayley is currently ranked 63 amongst south african women she started playing tennis at the age of 12 when she competed in her first tournament on the south african circuit as a junior her highest ranking was in the top 30 in the country she took a break from the circuit after starting high school but in grade 10 decided that this was the place she wanted to be she is currently competing in the u18 and womens events in december last year she competed in two itf tournaments but the soweto open is certainly the highlight of her life cayley managed to get through to the 3rd round finals of the qualifiers where she was knocked out by julia glushko from israel current international ranking of 161 cross country bryanston high hosted 15 schools in the annual parlauf cross-country relay in april bryanston senior boys team came 2nd behind pretoria boys and ahead of affies kes and northcliff the boys cross-country teams were invited to participate at an even held at pretoria boy s high the senior team was placed 2nd overall an outstanding result keep running squash bryanston high u19 boys 2nd team played in a league match against randpark high s 1st team and won 3 of their 4 matches the u14a boys beat northcliff 4 0 in their first official league match certificate of excellence alex warren team colours nokuthula mbhele megan howard sam ritchie rosina kaseke robynne reid taron van der berg amber snijman half colours megan howard and samantha ritchie full colours nokuthula mbhele

kwa-zulu natal rugby festival 2013 bryanston high school attended the oldest festival in south africa kzn versus gauteng in april the 29th annual festival took place at george campbell technical school our boys were hosted by kingsway high school and were very excited for the weekend we played our first match on saturday 27th april this was against our hosts kingsway last year we had lost against kingsway 22-0 but this year the boys showed courage and we defeated kingsway 15 8 on monday 29th april we played our old hosts pinetown boys against who we lost 48-3 two years ago with the same passion that the boys showed against kingsway we started the match off well and with a lot of guts and determination we defeated pinetown boys with a last minute try winning 10-5 we would like to thank mr skelton for his ongoing support to all parents a big thank you for sending your boys on one of the most prestigious festivals in south africa well done boys without you this wouldn t have been a success we are very proud of you the boys are back we are fortunate to be hosting the 30th anniversary of the kzn versus gauteng festival for schools next year at bryanston high school.

extra extra read all about it read all about it bryanston high has been reaching new heights during 2013 and it is just fitting that we get our own newspaper to report about everything that is happening a press club was established to run this project a competition was launched to get the creative juices flowing and let the learners decide on a name for the paper the prize a r100 voucher to the school tuck shop makabongwe kaseke is the lucky winner with her entry the bryanston unedited our journalists will be at every event that the school hosts to make sure that the learners get all the inside and backstage information the bryanston unedited will be sold at the end of each term our journalists press club are luke van rooyen ayanda sizani itumeleng khumalo tamara mushani kayla palframan chelsea alexander sara lagardien thabisile tshuma and tyler silawule thank you to hatfield vw bryanston who sponsor our learner driver car.
