october 15th 2010 volume 2 issue 7 siminterior designs ltd an idea by madison1909 by okadoka editor grab your morning cup and enjoy this issue inside this issue 1000 members design star challenge carrie s closet triple take pg 2 pg 3 pg 4 pg 6 halloween fantasy pg 8 sims3 site news member spotlight pg 10 pg 11 special points of interest · · · · · design star challenge carries closet halloween fantasy fun triple take autumn member spotlight kementari seven international beauties advanced to round three this round just acting like we re animals was a swimsuit competition with a twist requiring the models to show their fierce sexy and savage sides these shots also required them to pose with an animal that had been assigned to them entries for this round poured in early as a direct result of the tapping of the lurkers it could also have been that the models wholeheartly enjoyed working with the animals the models worked with reptiles jungle cats and canine predators from beaches timberlands and jungles they showed the world how they could connect with these creatures and revealed not only their beauty but the beauty of their animal as well citrinemoon presented aya as an alligator wicked presented vittore romping with cheetahs lkadas showed us elena channeling her inner wolf maxim displayed sun slithering along the beach with a friendly python kat revealed mac in the jungle with an iguana but it was kneal who showed her fiercest side yet as she let the tiger within leap out the lurkers were out in full force as the models had each submitted their pics in a timely manner they too joined the lurkers in tapping anxious for results from the judges as with the previous round this was a double elimination and we had to say good-bye to mason and his model kiera and citrinemoon with model aya after announcing the kneal s joselli as pic of the week the next round was quickly posted five success models moved forward to compete in the overnight celebrity round popularity and good looks are common among celebrities but what love is sometimes elusive each model was assigned a celebrity love duo to emulate this round would balance the models fierce sides with their soft showing us versatility maxim did a wonderful job presenting vanessa paradis johnny depp lkadas knew how to reveal the likes of brad pitt angelina jolie wicked showed gwen stefani gavin rossdale in a family way kat kicked it this shoot with victoria david beckham again it was kneal who had everyones jaw dropping as beyonce jayz showed the world they are still as in love as ever despite his stint with betty white on saturday night live so many gorgeous people had left the judges in a quandary but a decision had to be made again this was a double elimination lurkers and contestants were stunned to see vittore and sunrise falter in this celebrity round kneal again was awarded pic of the week for joselli s portrayl of beyonce we are now left with the final three lkadas with her model elena kat with her model mackenzie and kneal with her model joselli welcome to here comes the future a futuristic fantasy challenge this will be sure to keep the lurkers glued to their seats you can view all of the models headshots on page 7.

page 3 volume 2 issue 7 by linday the audition challenge showed some amazing creativity and a lot of beautiful variations of an already stunning home the decision on who to keep was extremely difficult and four designers were cut hazentw smokytopaz pinklady1 and maezinha were eliminated a wild card poll was set up to give one of the eliminated designers a chance to continue on in the competition and when the votes were tallied smokytopaz was the lucky one to get a second chance for the first official round home sweet office the contestants were asked to design an office space for a fellow contestant based on information in the bios written for the auditions they also had to use a given item namely the simogany desk the contestants were randomly assigned their clients yet again the entries were amazing and showed a variety in styles ranging from minimalistic modern designs to warm home-like rooms kementari s warm contemporary office designed for bryonyrae was named design of the week as with the auditioning round eliminations were difficult but in the end robb didn t make it to the next round the next challenge is already posted and the remaining contestants will be converting an underground bunker into a stunning apartment for one sim how will they rise up to the challenge of fitting a living area kitchen/dining area and sleep quarters into a 4x8 space their creativity and space-planning abilities will certainly be put to a test with this one game play tip because ghosts can fly through walls and objects they may attempt to break the space between you and it ghosts can even float to a corner you simply cannot reach this naturally frustrates your sim but there s just not much you can do except wait for the ghost to float to another part of the house the sims3 game collectors guide

page 6 volume 2 issue 7 triple take autumn inspiration an interpretive kailead is all about having the showroom ready to showcase the seasonal trends she selected two room layouts that she liked one contemporary and one modern and challenged the designers to set up rooms similar to her examples and with an autumn or fall theme the results were fabulous and the decision on which three to use was a difficult one kementari created a bright and lively room bringing in a true autumn colour palette the room is finished off with spectacular staging using many seasonal decor items and clutter maxim s modern interpretation was selected for the tones textures lighting and overall feel of the room the subtle touches of autumn and the not so subtle colour palette retained the modern ambiance while bringing in the seasonal feel smokeytopaz created a near perfect replication of the original room then altered the colour palette to bring it to life this room is a subtle representation of the autumn colour palette which could easily carry through year round for the client who prefers the more subtle touch.

page 11 volume 2 issue 7 member spotlight on kementari by okadoka this issue i bring you a member who is full of new things newly married just 2 short yrs new to the united states born in australia new to sim interior designs and new to challenges here she steps away from the newness when it comes to her love of the sims she has been dabbling creating and decorating with the sims since the first installment was released she is like a fish to water when she jumps in to decorate a room it comes naturally to her and it shows in her presentation kementari blew us away with her entry in the storybook children s room challenge recreating the aladdin themed room complete with the stars in the sky she is currently involved in the design star challenge and triple take studio challenges if you haven t yet had a chance to view her work visit the challenge threads and be prepared to see some stunning rooms also make sure to stop by her blog site simplicilty oka you are a new and mysterious member to most of us here at sid we know little about you besides the fact that you have amazing interior design skills what would you like to share with our members hobbies family kem firstly thank you for such a lovely compliment hmm a few things about me i think i m terribly boring so it s very hard lol i have a great sense of humor very light hearted and easy going i tend to migrate more towards animals than people i m originally from australia i am newly married just over 2 years have no children but have 3 adorable cats who are my children i miss my family terribly since moving here to the usa we are a very close family i love to do craft projects but haven t had the chance to begin any since being here i love to read i can get lost in a book and end up spending the whole day on the front porch just reading oh as you probably already guess by my avatar i am into all things fantasy i love fairies dragons vampires elves imps you get the idea i definitely think i was born in the wrong time period i should of been born in the medieval era but only if i was from nobility good god could you imagine being back there as a peasant ugh they did not have happy lives wow look at that i rambled on and on that s something you don t see every day i am a woman of few words normally oka how long have you been playing the sims and what drew you to the franchise kem i have been playing i think since it was first released i got all the expansion packs and was addicted from the beginning i can t even remember what got me into the game to begin with it was

page 12 volume 2 issue 7 that long ago lol more than likely it was a game my brother bought home and i had a dabble and got hooked i did try sims2 but my computer at the time was not high tech enough so i went back to playing the old games then i moved here and my hubby bought the sims3 for me so i wouldnt be so bored when he was at work :p oka as a one of our newest members i would like to ask how you heard about this site and what inspired you to join kem i actually heard about this site from lkadas she started a thread over at livingsims to tell us about your sid design star challenge and seeing as i am a challenge junkie i had to come on over a take a look-see after poking around a bit i jumped into 2 competitions the story book room and sid design star and the triple take challenge which i think i may have done wrong doh everybody here seems really friendly and helpful which is what i look for in a community so i think i will be planting my proverbial butt in one of your cozy lounges and staying for a while oka you have become very active at sid into most of the challenges presented here and showing great designs which of the current competitions that you are participating in poses the biggest challenge for you kem sid s design star challenge is really making me sweat at the moment i am not used to entering competitions mainly i just do challenges where there is no win or lose it s exciting and nerve racking all at once there are so many talented people out there and i never feel up to their level but i figure what the hey get in and have a go you never know what you can achieve if you don t try oka viewing your simpage at the sims3 site i see only a few items in your studio one of them being your first home build was that home a challenge for you to build do you enjoy building homes kem i don t have a lot on that page only because i really don t think my stuff is any good lol it always amazes me when someone compliments my work it s quite nice really that home was not my actual first home if you could of seen the first houses i built you would of laughed think of a child s picture of a house yup they were my houses the houses i do have up their are the first ones i have made that look half way decent i decided one day when my game was having a fit and i had to remove all my cc that there really isn t a lot of houses for download that can be made with the game straight out of the box so i made one then 2,then 3 and well you know i have a few more that i have made and some even decorated with all base game stuff that i have added to my studio today i have only been building my own homes since i started doing the challenge me to build challenges over at livingsims and i must say i am loving it which surprises me i do have a blog site that is more like an online photo album it also has the houses i have created for download on there simplicity it is serious need of an update though oka do you have a favorite color palette have you worked at designing your own patterns kem i absolutely love soft faded dusty colors and earthy tones i have never tried to make my own patterns but i think that would be a little to daunting for me i am not a computer whiz

volume 2 issue 7 page 13 oka what style of decor would you say is your favorite and why kem i don t think i really have a style i like or if i do i have no idea what its called i just like my rooms to look lived in and homey i like a room to look cozy i don t like when you are in a room and your afraid to sit or touch anything i guess i really like shabby chic and cottage/country oka when you look back at your childhood would you say that something from your youth fostered your interest in interior design if so would you share that with us kem the only thing i think that may have affected my want to be an interior designer was the lack of it going on in my home as a child lol my mum who is the best mum on the face of the planet was never a housekeeper things were messy to put it nicely stuff shoved everywhere and anywhere i do believe they are hoarders lol and then dad bless his heart i love him to pieces his middle name should of been gunna yup im gunna do this im gunna do that we had half renovated rooms for years no plaster on the walls bathroom all done but no cabinet doors or tiling ah it was a great place to live though so many good good memories oka in the current triple take challenge i quote madi here kem you are definitely a clutter freak her assessment of the room you decorated would you say you possess a similar style in your own home if you do not can you tell us what style of decor best describes your own living space kem i tend to decorate rooms when i have free reign how i would like my home to look i am anal retentive so even though i do love stuff and lots of it it all has its place you should see my wardrobe all black hangers color coordinated grouped by type of clothing then length on hanger seriously i have issues lol my home at the moment is a tad run down we live in a military rental that was built in the 40 s so i haven t really done anything with it seeing as we are moving this year to a brand new home so they keep telling us lol when we get there i will start to scour the thrift stores and yard sales frugal trait to decorate my home i can t wait it will be the first time i have had my own place so it gets to be just the way i want well so long as it is not to frilly and lacey i m sure the hubby would not approve of that lol oka if you weren t involved with the sims franchise what would you most likely be doing with your free time kem that s easy playing world of warcraft yup i am also addicted to that game it s my way of living in a fantasy world oka do you play families in your game if so would you share the story of your favorite family with us kem i actually only played a family in the very beginning when i first got the original sims game all i can remember is that the father was in the military career and he came home as a super hero one day once i started to play around with decorating and found cc totally addicted to cc i have about 6000 pieces in my game that was it i never actually play the game anymore i dabble here and there but never get into it just have them on free will and fast forward hehe but with late night coming out i may actually get into the play side of the game again vampires whoopie
