from the conference chairman face at the registration table in the hotel lobby what makes the 2010 conference exciting is that ernie s family has asked us to sell his incredible collection of rare museum quality radios the bulk of the collection more than 200 items will be sold in an absolute auction on thursday evening of the show ron lawrence w4ron t he 2010 charlotte antique radio conference promises to be one of the biggest most exciting and at the same time one of the saddest shows we ve ever had just two days after last years conference while winding down and trying to return to the normal world we got the shattering phone call that one of our long time friends a strong club and meet supporter and world class radio collector ernie hite was dead from a heart attach ernie had missed the meet due to work requirements it was the only show he had ever missed if you have attended the conference before you re sure to have seen ernie s smiling 1 ernie hite iii along with the estate auction we will still have our regular friday afternoon auction where anyone registered for the conference can consign items to be sold another special event this year the tube collectors association tca is hosting a tube collectors meeting on thursday morning before the regular start time of the conference this event will start at 9am and is open and free to everyone there will be several presentations on top-

ics of interest to tube collectors and historians plus some casual tube selling and trading the tube conference will be over just in time for our kick off luncheon at 11:30am our forum sessions on thursday afternoon will have a number of well know presenters including john dilks k2tqn the author of the old radio column in qst magazine eric wenaas the author of the new book on radiola james o neal felicia kreuzer and awa conference chairman roy wildermuth charlotte 2010 charlotte conference event schedule thursday march 25 2010 items for the regular friday auction may be checked in when ever the auction preview room is open we will make every effort to have the auction preview room open all day thursday 9:00 am special tube of course friday morning we collectors assn event will have our normal flea market kicking off at 8am 10:00 am with our now famous lemans registration desk start the flea market will opens in hotel lobby continue on saturday morning followed by our radio 11:30 am rescue end of meet auction kickoff luncheon in the sheraton lobby other events include our old equipment contest with the 1:00 pm judging on saturday morning afternoon forums and our friday evening 4:00 pm banquet cc-awa annual members meeting i hope everyone enjoys the 2010 6:00 pm charlotte antique auction preview last radio conference hour for viewing before hite auction 2

special events info special tube collectors collectors assn event date thursday march 25 9 am there will be several talks on tube history special handouts door prize drawings tube related displays and some informal tube-trading tca president ludwell sibley will be here from oregon he will give a talk on some recent tube discoveries other presentations are still being confirmed this special event is free and open to anyone interested it will be over in time for the kickoff luncheon fessenden reginald a fessenden the real story by james o neal while doing research in 2006 for an article commemorating the 100th anniversary of the fabled 1906 christmas eve broadcast by reginald fessenden author james o neal discovered both inconsistencies and a lack of contemporary documentation he published his findings in october 2006 but has continued his research hoping to find evidence to support the fessenden story he will be presenting his latest information on the topic forum speakers date thursday march 25 1 to 4 pm most forums will last 20 minutes to 1 hour with about 15 minutes in between each 4 wireless north pole the adventures of don mix by john dilks k2tqn imagine for a minute you are a young 21 year old ham living in connecticut with your parents you have recently completed your schooling and are thinking
