what does our library do i usually have half a dozen books going at once because they re all just so interesting the library is a lot more than a place to store books a library is a rich resource for the community it serves · libraries create opportunities there is rich variety in the word opportunity which could include the chance to meet people learn new and much more things find a job pursue a hobby enjoy some quiet time solve a problem · libraries bring people together the library is a place where friends our friends and neighbors come for presentations the library is the community s living room meet to do homework where community groups meet for activities where armchair traveler is a social event for people who otherwise would be very much alone it s the highlight of their week · libraries are cost-effective the library provides technology access expert resources events and a massive collection of more than 360,000 books e-books movies and cds at an average annual cost of $62 per household · libraries connect us to the past and future from our extensive genealogy resources and historical archives to the technology that will lead us into the next decade and beyond the library is a time bridge to wherever you want to go 4 flintpubliclibra ry
