te puna school september 10 2010 missing child found asleep school emergency responses were tested on tuesday when a new entrant did not return to class straight after the lunch bell the classroom teacher immediately began a search but was unable to locate the student who had only moments before the bell been seen playing in front of the class staff and senior students were notified and a full search of the school and the immediate neighbourhood commenced family were contacted and a broader search began -to no avail police were notified and their response was excellent the drama came to a swift conclusion when the school bell went at days end the child emerged oblivious to the unfolding drama from a well concealed sleeping spot in a resource room that had twice been checked so all is well that ends well it is nice to know that help is so readily at hand when it is needed thanks to all who joined in the search i apologise for the unsettling experience some of you had in arriving at school to a police presence interestingly driver behaviour at the gate was impeccable that afternoon t p news on air this week we have launched the latest addition to the school web site tp news our year 7 8 students are using flip cameras and green screen technology to film regular news broadcasts all filming scripting recording sound mixing and editing is done as part of the class literacy programme the students are learning amazing skills and the pace at which they are developing digital skills is astounding if you have the chance to log on and watch the news please do so if you would like to see more of what the seniors are doing please feel free to check out the class page or to come in and have a look the children would be very happy to share office administrator appointed after an overwhelming response to the advertisements we have appointed mrs barbara duncalf to the office administrator s position we are thrilled to have finally made an appointment and look forward to barbara starting with us on the 20th of the month barbara will drivers are still causing us concern in and around the driveway entrance drivers that stop or park close to the entrance are creating danger other drivers are doing have the office running like a well oiled machine in no time and you will get to hear her friendly voice on the phone -not mine i am looking forward to getting back to regular duties and spending more time in the classrooms with the children and teachers stupid things to get past and children can not be seen if the driveway entrance is not kept clear please use designated parking spaces and keep the entrance clear driveway chaos continues cairyn rogers is a year eight student she plays rep basketball for tauranga city and used to play for otago she has just been named to play for the new zealand under 14 koru team who will be going to albury new south wales australia the trip will cost over $3000 so she really needs some fundraising assistance over the next few weeks we will be holding a number of novelty events like todays funky hair day your support in fundraising is much appreciated one off donations can be made via the school office thanks for the love of animals year 7 studenttayla yates has been flat-tack making and selling incredible cupcakes to raise money for the spca her outstanding efforts raised over $200 what a great display of te puna students initiative netball final won by te puna the senior netball team has only been together for a few months and have been lethal and undefeated all season read the full article including student perspectives on-line
