half way through the year what a good year it has been the students completed the state testing and we are so proud of them great job everyone we have tried some new things this year and they have proved to be wonderful the plays kiss drop music program and two new teachers all of these have proven to be great changes one of the newest additions to saint rose is the principal advisory council pac this is a group of parents from each class from prek to 8th grade the group meets each month to discuss topics to help better the school the topics include anything from kiss drop communication to computers the parents are an advisory group that helps improve communication and help improve the school i would like to thank the parents that have volunteered to work on this team i have enjoyed the meetings and learned so much already as a team we have worked on forming an alumni committee and a technology team the team will continue to work on such topics as a 5 year strategic plan school improvement advertising and more if anyone would like to join the alumni committee or the technology team please email me at srprincipal@cox.net your expertise is needed to help these committees work this year s theme for catholic school week is catholic schools dividends for life a catholic education is the best investment that a parent can make for their child the education the values and sense of community will pay off dividends for life catholic school week is a time to celebrate the gift of a catholic education i and the staff would like to personally thank you the parents for sending your children to saint rose of lima school we realize that you make many sacrifices to send your children to saint rose your sacrifice is not in vain i have seen the test scores increasing with each new year i watch while your children grow in their faith it is an honor and a privilege to be a part of your child s education please come celebrate with us during catholic school week st there will be an opening mass on january 31 at 10:30 with an open house following in order to be a visible sign in our parish we are asking that the students wear their uniforms to the opening mass students will enjoy many special events th during the week including whole school bingo 8 grade teachers movie day science night and of course browsing the book fair all week i invite all to join us in celebrating catholic school s week registration for returning students begins january 13th registration for new students begins january 20 be sure to return your registration packet th

january 2010 the rose have an adventure read around the world the annual spring scholastic book fair will be held during catholic st school s week january 31 ­ th february 5 the book fair will be open to the public during open house and science night it will also be open to students throughout the week a schedule of shopping dates assigned for each class will be sent home page 2 with the new year underway let s take a moment to reflect back on the events throughout this christmas season the annual santa s breakfast got things started on december 5th everyone enjoyed a delicious breakfast prepared and served by dave s bar and grille thank you to yolanda appollonio for organizing the event and the faculty and parents who helped from the planning to the break down many hands truly do make lighter work also thank you to dave williams and his staff for all their support and services throughout the breakfast next we hosted the second annual st rose of lima sleep over what a wonderful event the students enjoyed pizza snacks bingo movies games and spending time with their friends in a safe and fun environment let me also say how proud the parents should be of their children they were all respectful and well behaved while the loss of sleep was somewhat painful from a chaperone s viewpoint it was truly a pleasure to spend this time with your children finally we all enjoyed our annual school christmas show it was wonderful to see all of st rose celebrating the christmas season our school also participated in several community service projects during this holiday season starting with our annual food drive together with our parish we were able to provide dozens of families thanksgiving meals and other provisions also thank you to nazira librizzi and everyone who purchased gifts for the mcauley house your generosity made a huge difference to the mothers and children this christmas finally thank you to those who donated to the coat drive our donation is helping to keep families in need warm this winter none of this could be accomplished without the help of our parents principal and faculty who collected organized and distributed these collections to those in need we as a school community accomplished a lot during the christmas season we enjoyed our christmas traditions and worked hard to serve our community giving receiving enjoying and celebrating what a wonderful gift i sincerely wish you and your family a year filled with health happiness and love hope to see you at the open house god bless kelli russ bowe and transition team yearbook photos if you would like to submit photos to our yearbook committee please burn your photos to a cd have a cd made when developing your prints or store them on a flash drive it is important to always set your camera quality to high or fine/superfine and a 3.1 mega pixel camera or higher is necessary if you have any questions contact mrs dunlap at ndunlap@saintroseschool.com.
