planet savers program boambee school has been invited to be part of a pilot environmental leadership program with karangi ps bellingen ps coffs harbour hs bellingen hs and the coffs harbour education campus the program has been developed by ozgreen and will be introduced in 12 other areas around australia on monday the 30th of august 9 students will take part in a whole day leadership training program following this the ozgreen team will work with all stage 3 students in a 3 hour workshop to · · · increase understanding of local and global sustainability challenges develop the capacity to measure their own ecofootprint and set their own eco-targets develop a personal sustainability vision and action plan 2 deadly days bulletin community festivals for aboriginal education engagement 2010 on thursday 2nd september 4 of our students have been invited to attend the `deadly days festival being held in kempsey this festival is part of the australian government s community festivals for education engagement initiative the festival aims to increase education employment and training opportunities for young aboriginal and torres strait islander people and also promote positive and healthy lifestyles the students will experience expos and stalls a variety of activities and performances mrs ferguson will be accompanying remi ferguson matt summerville bradford sinclair and tasha mcdonald and they are all looking forward to a fabulous day keep an eye out in next week s newsletter as the student s will share their experiences of the day mrs ferguson as part of the program the ozgreen team will run teacher and parent information sessions date and times to be finalised this is an exciting opportunity for the students and follows the work already begun in year 5/6 last week as they started to plan and develop a vision for school grounds improvement sticks and stones visiting performance permission notes were sent home last week for this fantastic performance to be held on monday 13th of september the school is subsidising the cost to ensure all students are able to attend this performance cost is $4.00 the show will focus on helping students develop an understanding of bullying and the impact it can have on others it will also give students strategies and confidence to deal with bullies the lessons taught during this performance are done with a great deal of sensitivity and are presented in an engaging and fun way we appreciate that with the big bash this is an expensive time for parents student assistance is available for families no student should miss out on such experiences because of cost please contact the office if you would like more information about the student assistance scheme.
