this is what i discovered about russia russians enjoy and excel at many sports including hockey soccer and gymnastics they enjoy american movies and music after the fall of communism shopping has become a favored pastime new years and christmas are the two main holidays christmas is celebrated on january 7th however they celebrate many other of our holidays except thanksgiving christianity is the main religion practiced through the russian orthodox church with the exception of the ceremony language it is practiced the same as it was in 10th century schools consist of one building for elementary through high school college is free for those who can get in based on grades but some can pay to attend russian citizens desire peace and want to rebuild the society after the fall of communism there are some distinctive class differences and handicapped people are neglected as compared to the us family traditions are very strong and the families stay connected even after children are out of the house.
