room one explores the 1960 s this term we have been looking back 50 years to the 1960 s we have found out many things that were special to the 60 s and have made comparisons to how things are now one of our focuses is fashion in the 1960 s last week we had fun tie dying our t-shirts purple orange and blue first of all we had to fold our t-shirt in half and then half again we put our finger in the centre of our t-shirt and replaced it with a large marble we tied a rubber band just below the marble making sure it was really tight after flipping the t-shirt over we put a small marble in the middle tied that one up and flipped back again this was repeated three times the sleeves were folded rolled up and then tied with rubber bands once we were happy with what we had done we choose a colour and put it into the bucket with that colour dye all the clothes were stirred for about 45 minutes rinsed in cold water and hung up to dry we are really proud of our work and can t wait to take our t-shirts home some of us will be wearing them for our production item we are also designing our own clothes for the 1960 s which will be modelled on paper dolls these are two of our paperdoll designs.
