universities eindhoven is a modern student city region of eindhoven technology hotspot in the netherlands remco magielse for a long time i had wanted to study computer science and then mechanical engineering i had already registered when a friend asked me to go along to the industrial design open day which i did in the evening i said to my parents `dad mum i m going to switch i found it a bit of a revelation plenty of projects to get stuck into and direct contact with the customer not simply lectures and exams and it was also a brand new educational program exciting now that i have graduated i m looking to do a doctorate i think it s great to research engineering applications design innovative products that are also user-friendly in the first year of my master s i even developed a game that got kids interested in engineering but not in a lazy way behind a computer screen two teams ­ attackers and defenders ­ battle for a virtual object a small computer device that each player
