with leading universities eindhoven is a modern student city region of eindhoven technology hotspot in the netherlands sander verdonschot it may sound an odd thing to say about yourself but i am a good student i find this study quite easy my main interest lies in the theory especially the algorithmic subjects solving working out complex problems ­ i enjoy that kind of thing it s why i chose this master s and it also keeps open the possibility of doing a doctorate and getting started as a researcher that appeals more to me than a job in industry or business wanting to study computer science has been clear as day for me for a long time i did consider mathematics for a fleeting moment but since computer science involves the necessary mathematics too and the fact that i find the applications more interesting my decision has remained rock solid i have been a dabbler in computer science from a very young age at primary school l learned programming without too much effort through the `superlogo program for my special project at high school i implemented a simple 3d engine in java so you could say that i want to turn my hobby into my work in addition to my studies i give extra math lessons to high school pupils not only a nice little earner but also a useful experience you have to use your didactic skills because something that may be very easy to you is often more difficult to explain to others formal methods generic language technology advanced databases real-time architectures business process management systems as well as the master project and a compulsory seminar course this leaves 60 ects for elective courses internship opportunities in the elective part of the program you can include an internship with a maximum of 15 ects research profile of the department the design of innovative software and the art of mathematical modeling are key enablers for technological and industrial progress the computer science group of the mathematics and computer science department has a strong focus on design and has an excellent reputation in this field the research is concentrated on four areas of expertise specification and verification information systems algorithms and visualization and software and systems engineering the emphasis in the research is on its application in embedded systems and business information systems requirements for admission there are a number of general requirements for admission to master s degree programs and special master s tracks · you must have a relevant bachelor s degree or equivalent based on a program of sufficient academic level and quality to enable you to complete the tu/e master s degree program or special master s track to which you wish to be admitted · you must be able to demonstrate sufficient command of the language in which the program or track is taught all tu/e master s degree programs and special master s tracks are taught in english · to prove sufficient command
