applied physics tu/e a good choice high quality of education and research leading position in international university rankings excellent student facilities international contacts with leading universities eindhoven is a modern student city region of eindhoven technology hotspot in the netherlands huajun qin there are three reasons why i chose tu/e to do my master s firstly i like the summers here in hangzhou where i come from it can reach forty degrees centigrade and that s too hot for me also the netherlands is nice and central since i want to see more of europe and last but not least the tu/e has a close relationship with industry i even got a scholarship from asml the corporate culture there has a really relaxed feel to it employees do not feel a lot of pressure i like the family pictures on the desks of the employees i will be doing my graduation study at asml and i may even stay after that for another three years i felt at home in eindhoven right away i have a dutch and a french roommate last weekend i visited a dutch family to have dinner with them and then we had a three-country-tour by car and eindhoven has many chinese residents too we celebrate the spring festival together just a pity that the shops are closed most sundays as for the studies i like the fact that the classes in the netherlands are interactive i did my bachelor s degree at zhejiang university for the most part this was a series of lectures i prefer the dutch system country this internship can be of a theoretical or practical nature but a combination of both is also possible the entire second year of the master s degree program consists of a final internship during which you will independently complete a major project while doing this you will see that the knowledge and skills that you gained are essential for the successful completion of your project after completing your final internship you will obtain the title master of science in applied physics graduation options in the second year of your master s degree program you will work on a final project in one of the tracks that to a large extent matches the research focal areas of the department you can choose to carry out your project within the department or at another university it is also possible to carry out the project at a company in the netherlands or abroad the tracks are · functional nano materials analyzing constructing and manipulating materials at nanometer scale requirements for admission · physics of transport in fluids fundamental there are a number of general requirements for aspects of heat transport in fluids and gases admission to master s degree programs and special · plasma physics and radiation technology master s tracks plasmas and their applications and applications · you must have a relevant bachelor s degree of ion bundles or equivalent based on a program of sufficient · physical instrumentation/medical physics academic level and quality to enable you to development of physical measurement methods complete the tu/e master s degree program or and instruments for laboratories industry and special master s track to which you wish to be biomedical applications admitted the department of applied physics also offers · you must be able to demonstrate sufficient three special master s tracks command of the language in which the program research profile of the department research carried out by the applied physics department focuses primarily on nano-engineering of functional materials transport physics and plasmas and radiation a total of twelve research groups are working on these research areas each group spans the entire `chain of knowledge from fundamental to application-oriented research this means that as a student you will be able to define your own areas of emphasis within each track with the choice of a more practical numerical or theoretical approach or track is taught all tu/e master s degree programs and special master s tracks are taught in english · to prove sufficient command of the english language you should submit an academic ielts or toefl test for the scores or exemptions you can contact the international relations office io@tue.nl or visit www.tue.nl/masterprograms · there may be additional specific requirements for specific programs or tracks also depending on the nature of your prior education more information visit www.tue.nl/masterprograms · nano-engineering · polymers and composites · broadband telecommunication technologies these special master s tracks have a multidisciplinary character the tracks form part of the joint activities of electrical engineering and chemical engineering departments and of other universities in the netherlands graduated and then depending on your chosen track you could find a position in the research laboratories of organizations such as philips asml océ tno or kpn or in smaller companies and engineering bureaus physicists are also found in institutes such as the royal netherlands meteorological institute knmi sron netherlands institute for space research and the foundation for fundamental research on matter fom graduates who are specialized in medical physics will have the opportunity after completing their program of working as physicists together with medical specialists in a hospital since you learn during the program how to analyze and solve problems you will also be able to work in management positions outside the field of physics in practice a substantial group of graduates choose this option and take up careers outside the research laboratories and institutes hospitals and education why study applied physics in eindhoven an important characteristic of the master s program in applied physics in eindhoven is the fact that the program is strongly focused on building bridges between fundamental science and technological applications this is made possible by the strong contacts that the applied physics department maintains with the high-tech companies in the eindhoven region as well as in the rest of the netherlands and beyond a large part of this master s program consists of elective courses and internships this means that graduates from tu/e gain a great deal of practical experience during their programs which is a valuable asset in finding their first jobs the extensive freedom of choice means you can to a large extent define the content of your study program to match your own preferences.
