bryanston high school newsletter 7 of 2012 3td september bryanston.com https facebook.com/bryanstonhighschool @bryanston_high dear parents and learners the matrics have started prelims which makes it very tough for them in the next three months as they write prelims until the end of september then will have a two and a half week break before beginning their finals round about monday 22nd october so this is a very stressful period we would like to wish them and their families the very best and we are sure that they will produce results that are even better than our many good results in the past an interesting new development in the south african educational programme is the introduction of ana annual national assessment examinations which will affect all grade nines who will write an english and a maths exam these are exams which the national education department sets they are marked by our teachers but are moderated by an external authority they will be written on the 19th and 21st september primary schools probably the biggest motivation behind these exams is the declining of standards in education and this is an attempt to halt that and measure new progress in numeracy and literacy teachers in the last couple of weeks have been preparing grade nines for these exams but at the same time are continuing with the curriculum parents will be given the results of the ana exams which will probably be attached to the end of term report i would like to thank the grade elevens for the fantastic bush camps at thaba morula and sediba kwele they were an inspiration to us all with their enthusiasm their commitment their opinions and general positive involvement in the camps we look forward to a wonderful matric year in 2013 thank you to mr mrs van der merwe for showing excellent leadership as grade controllers the inter-high a league athletics was a tough event we came fourth behind northcliff fourways and randpark i would like to congratulate the athletes on some superb and memorable races zama nguni s 1500 was an incredible race which he won and he has also been awarded gauteng colours for cross country thank you to mr lawrence and a reminder of our agm which his coaches for working very will take place on 17th october hard and we look forward to and our valedictory which is next year when we may regain on the 18th october primary schools also have to do our a league status them and one could say they dave robinson have become the `matric of bryanston spirit is true blue
