specialist middle school education te puke intermediate school page 3 mid-year data against national standards cellphones at school change to policy in the last newsle er we published the data for mathema cs based on the otj s made by teachers against the na onal standards the following tables are the english data for reading and wri ng you will no ce that like the mathema cs there is a significant group of students who are behind and need support to li their achievement students who are below or well below the standard are currently receiving one of the following supports with their learning · · · · · a ending the learning support room for english or maths receiving rtlb support with learning a ending the mst maths support teacher maths support programme with mrs dalgety a ending the all accelerated learning in literacy with mrs collier working in their home room within a small group with ge ng quality me with their teacher together with focussed planning to increase their level classroom teachers have worked hard to analyse every child s results and plan for their next steps in learning it is really important to strive to raise achievement and give added value for all students whether below at or above the programmes above are designed to give those students below the ns a chance to catch up it s ll requires considerable effort from the student and consistent support from home we recognise that some students will not catch up in the two years we have them but our aim is to add as much value as we can in that me and provide a posi ve learning experience that engenders confidence tpi life please refer to the additional page that accompanies this newsetter this is a parent survey about the proposed change in policyof cellphones at school.

specialist middle school education te puke intermediate school page 4 careers conference over the past two days we have been introducing the students to a variety of careers with the students attending six different workshops and listening to four keynote speakers thank you very much to the our guests who came to speak to our school about their chosen career mr tommy wilson author mr greg hughes architect mr bryce lawrence rugby referee mr rodney fong real estate agent and auctioneer first aid beautician driving based on the returns and requests we had for camps a number of changes have been made to the camps programme for 2012 the two opc ohope and horse riding camps will not go ahead this year but an extra ngatuhoa camp will be run in their place year 8 students are now busily selling chocolate bars a bit different to the past these are single bars of peppy and caramel chews buzz bars and chocolate fish i can tell you they are delicious and at $1 each they are an easy purchase year 8 camp forms fresh moves thirty students from te puke intermediate will be performing at the freshmoves bop dance fes val on thursday 16 august at baycourt tauranga the aim of the fes val is to allow primary aged children the opportunity to experience the processes involved with crea ng and performing dance for a community audience students have been working hard to create their dance to the fes val s 2012 theme flipside tickets are s ll available through ticket direct regards jill weldon principal
