annual report 2009 introduction apostolic youth ministries international aymi exists for the express purpose of seeing the youth of canada saved discipled and released to fulfill the purposes of the kingdom of god in their generation we will accomplish this purpose in 2 ways 1 doing it ourselves by initiating and carrying out ministries and programs such as street invaders lifeforce teams young leaders conferences etc which have been involved in this type of ministry and have seen these purposes fulfilled and 2 helping others to do it supporting and resourcing youth groups churches and other ministries to accomplish these purposes through equipping seminars by helping and supporting youth workers to find ministry opportunities through partnering with eston college in this type of training through web based training and support etc for the past 25 years we have seen young people touched saved discipled trained and released into his purpose and we believe that our greatest fruit is still before us we know that you will see this in our report and are pleased to be able to present it to you with a view to having you partner with us aymi annual report 1

annual report 2009 aymi operates as a covering for a number of youth ministries all of which we have pioneered the goals that we have laid out below will do 2 things a continue to facilitate these existing ministries and b prepare the ground for the new opportunities that we believe god is directing us into here are some of the things that have happened over the past 12 months from our previous report to your church we have accomplished the following goals o hired a new media director february 2009 klark relleve is our new creative director he comes to us from north vancouver where he and his family are members of lynn valley full gospel pastor owen scott s church oooo expanded the number on our board of directors october 2008 increased financial support base ongoing expansion of our prayer covering ongoing development of a placement agency for youth workers may 2009 we have been able to help place about 5 people in youth ministry positions to date along with this we have renewed our office lease for 3 years hired ben kostamo as ministry associate for aymi and he will be working with all of our ministries to develop them further working towards a financial plan that will include funding for our present and future ministries as well as the development of a grant development position in the process of developing a new database which will streamline much of our work in communication for some time now one of our greatest needs has been to be able to staff the area of media and the area of street invaders development by faith we have seen these 2 positions filled this year by men klark relleve and ben kostamo who are people of strong character and great ability and feel that they are called specifically to this place they are coming in faith and raising their support with aymi supporting them with a portion of their salary this brings a greater level of expertise and focus in those areas and as a result we are seeing great strides made as a result we are able to look seriously at a number of other opportunities that we believe god has put before us but we were unable to consider due to the need to focus on our present ministries i can t emphasis enough how important this is and what a difference it makes here at aymi both corporately for the future of the ministry as well as for myself personally the lord is good aymi annual report 2

annual report 2009 summer youth missions street invaders is our summer youth missions program for students 13 to 20 years of age it consists of one week of training and 1 or 2 weeks of mission where students spend their time sharing their faith and seeing the lord use them in various ways we have just finished its 21st year of operation this past summer and once again it was our best yet from our previous report to your church we have accomplished the following goals o o hired an administrator/development person for street invaders summer 2009 see above develop localized leadership for si in 3 areas maritimes vancouver and calgary this has started and is ongoing we have a significant increase over previous years in the number of students involved in the ministry at one of the programs we actually were preparing to turn students away because we didn t have enough churches to send teams to this would have been the first time in 21 years that we had to do that but we were able to find a mission at the last minute as well we sent out 5 international teams this past year to ecuador scotland los angeles south africa and hong kong there is a real hunger for these kinds of opportunities amongst our youth that allow them meaningful opportunities to make a difference in their world along with the goals we have met above we have finished developing our set of pre-focus materials for the first 3 years of training did an intensive review of all of the ministry of si and made significant changes in many areas including the development of a `gold standard we are working towards when it comes to the quality of the mission experiences we want for our students completed a new website for street invaders www.streetinvaders.ca completed our first mini-street invaders in cooperation with the youth ministry at regina apostolic church which was a great success completed development of a line of t-shirts/hoodies/water bottles/etc for sale for the program and sold out of much of what we produced our future goals include expansion of the ministry to a total of six programs from the three we now have in place presently we operate out of vancouver eston and fredericton each summer we are planning for our first new bootcamp to be in the city of winnipeg in 2011 we have plans to use the ministry of street invaders to help develop up and coming young evangelists who need a safe place to train and opportunities to share as well we plan to revamp the leadership development portion of the program to see more young people raised up as leaders aymi annual report 3

annual report 2009 as you know we didn t operate lifeforce during the 2008/2009 year due to a number of circumstances danny and alycia delong from your church were unable to return to england after coming to street invaders in the summer of 2008 due to visa problems as a result the program didn t operate in england at that time as well the canadian branch didn t operate due to low enrollment which we believe was an intervention by the lord our director lindsay hodges had a horrific year dealing with his daughter jazmyn who after a period of time was diagnosed with `childhood disintegrative disorder this has taken a large toll on jazmyn and the family as well and there would be no way for lindsay to operate as director during that time if lf had continued things aren t improving with any amount of speed but the family has a number of supports in place now that they didn t have in the past your prayers would be appreciated on their behalf we are thankful for the addition of ben kostamo to the aymi staff and he will be working a portion of his hours with lifeforce in helping to develop the ministry for the future the 2009/2010 year is underway and we have 3 teams in the canadian program one team is traveling to malta and northern africa another team is traveling to the philippines and the final team is a community team which will be based on the west side of saskatoon in the rougher area of the city this is the first time we have sent a team to be based in 1 area and we believe it will be something we will develop for the future as well aymi annual report 4

annual report 2009 one of the greatest needs in the area of youth ministry is valid training with 85 of canadian churches being under 100 in attendance each sunday most are struggling to financially support a senior pastor let alone a youth pastor that means that by far the greatest majority of youth workers are volunteers and they have little to no funding or time available for training equipping was developed to minister to the needs of both the paid and volunteer youth worker by bringing the seminar to the youth worker instead of having them travel to the seminar from our previous report to your church we have accomplished the following goals oooo hired a director for youth ministry training and development spring 2007 develop and launch equipping website www.aymi.ca/seminar have national youth worker seminars in operation locally across country be communicating with youth workers on a regular basis about resources etc unfortunately our director tim macdonald has stepped down as of june 2009 due to personal financial constraints nevertheless the ministry of equipping will continue as we know that this is a vital need in our country though we won t be hiring someone to replace tim at this point we will be using other staff to do the training as well as looking outside of the ministry for people to work with we recently partnered with a number of churches to do a training weekend that was hosted at eston college over the weekend of august 28 30 this was very well received and there are discussions about continuing with this next year our future goals include developing training opportunities that fit with each of the geographical areas that we have churches in similar to the idea that was shared above along with this we will develop a website that will host resources blogs training etc to help youth workers in their ministry we are also working on developing www.equippingu.ca an online training site to help churches and workers who can t get out to seminars due to costs this has the potential to provide a huge support to youth workers all over the country this is one of the projects i mentioned earlier that we are able to consider now that we have extra staff aymi annual report 5

annual report 2009 this is the new name given to the media department here at aymi klark relleve came on staff in march of this year and has been doing an amazing job his job has 2 parts one is the work he does for the ministry here at aymi and the other is work he does for ministries businesses and individuals outside of aymi all of the funds we raise through outside work go towards the continued development of the department including his wage we believe that it will be self-sustaining within a year s time which will allow for larger media projects to be started within aymi klark has developed a website as well for the department www.aymcreative.com our goal is to create a `media house that will be used to develop projects in the print web film and graphic areas that will be used by god to bring the light of the gospel to the culture of this generation even now having someone of his caliber in this area has been a tremendous support to the ministry of aymi we have changed the timing of the next young leaders conference from the fall of the year to january/february as there seems to be fewer other events to conflict with for this year s edition 2010 we have revamped everything we are doing and are really excited about the new direction we have invited phil collins to be our speaker phil was one of the founders of lifeforce teams and is presently director of the saltmine trust in england http www.saltminetrust.org.uk one of the new areas we are developing for the next young leaders conference is to bring together all of the junior assistant and senior leaders for the coming street invaders season that we can and do specialized training with them during this event the dates for the next conference january or february 2010 will be released soon aymi annual report 6
