architectural design management systems adms adms is a programme for young academic graduates who want to gain competences for the improvement and innovation of architectural design processes both in relation to the re-modelling of such processes and to their organisation and management the emphasis is on the development of conceptual and working methods scientific robust and valid to support practical and effective decision-making to strengthen the market position of designers in the building industry it is essential for design processes to be structured in a way that takes sufficient account of changing organisational structures of clients and users the increasing complexity of construction projects both functional and technical the growing number of design specialists and the need to increase efficiency and quality the two-year programme is based on relevant knowledge and theories provided by both the architecture building and planning department and the technology management department programme structure homologation depending on your prior academic education you will gain the required additional knowledge in the architecture building and planning department and the technology management department during the fifteen-month theoretical period the programme is compiled on an individual basis in consultation with the adms programmecoordinator theoretical phase during this phase trainees will analyse two reallife case studies and finish these by developing improvements and innovative scenarios for the design process the theoretical part of this phase consists of specific courses on subjects like design theories and methods architectural design management strategy design and control of design processes information systems and construction building costs time management building construction culture negotiations and public/private law one of the main activities is analysing and modelling business cases most of the work of trainees is judged by members of the academic staff and professionals from practice as well as adms-alumni business phase the business phase is the final phase of the

programme trainees work for nine months as an assistant business consultant in a design company in the building industry your task will be to solve a management problem in a design-related process the goal is to improve the process design in terms of effectiveness efficiency and quality during this period you will be coached and guided by the staff of adms career perspective as a graduate of the adms programme you will receive a pdeng diploma you will be able to model design processes of large complex building and construction projects as well as to manage the design teams of these projects you can find employment in project management or architectural firms government building surveying or client organisations as a graduate you will be a team player and you will have been trained in verbal written and electronic communication you will be able to present your models for the team and the client s organisation application the adms post-msc programme of sai is open to academic graduates with a master s degree in urban or architectural design or similar degree in building technology architecture or planning civil engineering or business management and technology applicants should complete the application form which can be downloaded from the website and send your application forms to the address shown on the back cover your application should include your master s degree with a list of results graduation report and a motivation letter and list of workexperience references applicants will be interviewed by an application team to assess their ability foreign applicants should apply at least four months before the programme starts because of the necessary procedures to gain resident s and employment permits the building industry has a strong national focus most lectures and the presentation of case studies are in dutch foreign applicants will be expected quickly to become proficient in the dutch language if they are accepted to join the adms-programme the tu/e offers facilities and support for this purpose.
