monday 23 april 2012 newsletter 1 t2 wk 1 please note that due to anzac day this is the newsletter for this week rongotea school welcome to term two it is great to see everyone again after our holiday break today we have welcomed the williams girls brittney and nicole back to rongotea school along with sophie henson who has started with nifty nines today i was sorry to see that we have had some vandalism over the holidays to the noticeboard at the front of the school it was especially disappointing because some of our seniors had just completed a new display on the board which has been wrecked while it is probably too late to address the damage now it would be good to know if you have seen or heard anything relating to the damage please feel free to pop in and see me anzac day we will be remembering this day in two ways this year with the children 1 special anzac day assembly which will be held in the flexi room at that s tomorrow everyone is welcome to join us at this assembly 2.30pm on tuesday 24th april 2 anzac parade marching in the local anzac day parade we have been doing this now for several years and i would really like to see as many of our students as possible participating in this event it is a fantastic way for us to support others in our community and a real opportunity for the children to develop their own understandings about anzac day from a local perspective i am asking for your support as parents to get the children along to march with the school for this event we will be meeting at 9.30am at school beside the bell tower please have the children in their school uniform we will walk up to the rsa rooms as a school and be ready to march with them at 10am our student leaders karl werner and marion doyle will lay a wreath on our behalf and karl will be presenting a speech on the day professional development afternoon change of time staff will be involved in a writing workshop here at school on monday 30th april from 1.30pm to 7.30pm the board is supporting this by providing a sports afternoon for the children please be aware that teachers will not be available that afternoon if you are able to help out on the monday afternoon please let tania in the office know lost rongotea lions kids n us quiz night for year 7/8 students tuesday 1st may 2012 6pm ­ 7.30pm proposed programme displays of activities by schools quiz section 40 written questions for all children on the night short speeches with certificate trophy presentation by the mayor margaret kouvelis supper finishing jackson s fleece from room 6 name is on the tag can you please check your child s clothing it is important to be at this evening the lions have once again provided our students with some amazing opportunities this event acknowledges and celebrates the activities that the children have participated in and is our chance to say thank-you to the lions the evening is for students and their families the lions need to know numbers for catering purposes can you please indicate on the slip below how many will be attending from your family name number attending
