bryanston high school newsletter 6 of 2012 1st august dear parents thank you for the positive response to the collection of reports and i also appreciated the many constructive comments parents made as a result of red ringing all marks below 49 parents evening is on tuesday 7th august 5 pm 7 pm we are going to do something different this time students are going to book five minute time slots on behalf of their parents each subject teacher will have a booking form on their desk where bookings can be made each interview slot will be strictly five minutes long parents please focus on academic issues and also be aware that when booking more than one teacher sufficient time must be allowed between interviews we hope that parents keep to the interview time as it will alleviate the problem of parents standing in a https @bryanston_high some of the incredible lia team behind the beauty pageants queue on a cold evening always remember that grade controllers are subject teachers and will focus on their own subjects on the evening they are available at any other time to discuss a more serious matter with you please make another appointment with them at an agreed time the national text book saga that is raging in the media is a concern to everyone please note that bryanston high has a very workable system using the exchange shop in the media centre this has allowed all students to obtain books at a low exchange price it is inevitable that a section 21 school such as bryanston will result in parents paying for textbooks it has been our goal through the shop to keep costs as low as possible and to give parents the chance to recycle books for the following grade profits made from the shop are used to replace the old and worn-out books the gde does give us an allocation for new books for the new caps curriculum but it will never be enough to cover text books for all grade 11s for 2013 the sgb and the staff are working on a new ltsm policy to accommodate all the curriculum changes and to make it cost effective to all parents it is also our teacher policy not to teach from text books teachers preparation and creativity should cover or even replace the need for text books thanks to the matrics for a very special dance which was glamorous and happy i wish them well in their prelims i would also like to wish the athletes well and hope they will have a very successful season our annual polar bear swimmers d robinson
