logline a young hopeful boy who aspires to be a writer is entranced and awed by a very un likely character that ends up saving his life theme go out of your way to make a friend instead of an enemy setting/environment the setting is pretty dark and dismal but with accents of light and color that help define the characters the locations are very run down the apartments especially queen bitches apartment is very cluttered and unorganized atmosphere the mood of this film fluctuates between a somewhat depressing lifestyle that our lead actor is living in and the contrast of a more cluttered and complicated lifestyle that his opposite queen bitch has characters elliot is very much a dreamer and has high hopes for himself he s kind of a wimp and lets other drag him down but he conquers ultimately ends up conquering his problems head on queen bitch on the other hand is the opposite and doesn t take crap from anyone she s got a really tough exterior but really opens up this boy and teaches him a lot about life and what he should be prepared for i think in some ways elliot sees a lot of the kind of person he wishes he could be in this woman queen bitch visual composition i think close ups and really great tight shots of the actors and establishing shots are going to be key for this film because it will helps us to not only connect with the actors but also allow us to get a great feel for where they re coming from and how they live 1

audio composition not entirely sure how the music will pan out on this film i would think rock ballads because of queen bitches character but that might be something we will have to discuss when we start the editing process of this film production design props and costumes are really going to be the key element when putting together this film queen bitch has her own unique kick ass style that will really need to be taken into consideration when putting together her wardrobe the set should be dark and some what mysterious a very old and run down neighborhood with lots of apartments with only the street lamps lighting the area producing the schedules with be set for november 18-19th call times are still being worked out but for the most part we have a whole crew and the film is casted we re still trying to lock down a location for both the apartments and the city street 2

visual strategy we will be using practical sources for lighting scenes initially lights will be added as needed but only to enhance the natural lighting both in the apartment and for exterior shots we will utilize cto and ctb gels to convert the color temperature and make a more even tone throughout the locations as for camera movements we determined that minimal and subtle movements would be ideal for example the last scene is an extensive conversation that can become boring visually with static shots we decided to use subtle pull backs/push ins/dolly and a variety of close ups medium and wide shots when the characters start to become comfortable with each other on the last page of the script i will slowly move the camera closer to the characters the motion represents their friendship and how they are becoming closer to one another one way camera angles will be used is to emphasize character placement in the scene when elliot is knocked to the ground and surrounded by his bullies i will use a bird s-eyeview shot to stress that he is vulnerable and at the mercy of the towering boys later in the same scene i will use a both a low and a high angle when queen bitch is introduces it will emphasize the physical difference between the boys and queen bitch as well as make her out to be threat to the bullies and a hero figure to elliot for the dream sequence we found inspiration from a documentary about david bowie using our canon 5d camera we will achieve a film-like look by boosting the gain and creating noise because the actors will be wearing black and white clothing we might also make it have more contrast by blowing out the whites and darkening the blacks these visual elements will set this scene apart from the rest of the movie and make it look more dream-like this may be done in post if we decide to capture the scene normally and leave ourselves more options for this sequence audio strategy for the sound design for queen bitch i will use all location-recorded sounds the music in the film will be rock music that sounds like david bowie songs i wanted to use rock music specifically music that sounds like david bowie because i want it to help set a tone for the film queen bitch the character is a rocker girl yes but she and elliot are both outsiders and i want 3

to use music that evokes the same kind of feeling i think that early bowie ala ziggy stardust does just that since we cannot use his music because we don t have the money i have searched for music that sounds very similar i have found several royalty free tracks that will be great for the film i want to have a very rock n roll feel to the film and the soundtrack will definitely help to achieve this the sound of the film will be important to build the world that elliot lives in which is isolated and lonely and the world he watches and dreams about which is hectic and robust i want the wall of the building on the roof where he peers over to watch the neighborhood to be like a sound barrier once his attention and imagination goes over the wall the levels for the sounds of that world will be raised up the sound design and the post-production effects that will be applied to the film will work towards creating the rock vibe i want for the film the sound for queen bitch will all be recorded on set with very minimal sounds rerecorded or folleyed the majority of the post-production work for the sound of the film will be done with the music that will accompany the story 4
