specialist middle school education te puke intermediate school 26 july 2012 newsletter no.10 tai term calendar page 1 mitchell rugby congratula ons to all our boys in the team and to the team management for a job well done to become the 2012 tai mitchell champions while hos ng the tournament is a tremendous achievement congratula ons to the commi ee of support people who assisted in running the tournament here in te puke including te puke sports rugby rangiuru rugby and eastern districts rugby the whole week was memorable for the smooth organisa on and contribu on of the community dedicated to tai mitchell rugby congratula ons to bruce jepsen as president of te puke tai mitchell on the organisa on as hosts of the tournament for 2012 special accolades for josh buckton from tpi named as the most outstanding player of the tournament awesome josh ­ well done players named to trial for roller mills have all been successful in making the team ­ further congratula ons to josh buckton joe dinsdale jaevyn mohi cole forbes and te marino waaka we are very proud of every single boy in the team and the way in which they all contributed to a mighty team effort te puke tai mitchell kia kaha te puke champions 2012 te mauri te wehi te mana te ihi 1070 1090 1075 950

specialist middle school education te puke intermediate school page 2 three way conferences ­ are on now you should all have received a mid-year report for your child indica ng how their learning is tracking against the expected levels for their age this will highlight areas of focus for every student and enable the se ng of goals for the second half of the year a ending a three way conference is cri cal to being a partner in your child s achievement and success while here at school please find a suitable me to a end a conference with your child and their teacher reminder ­ to book 1 log on to www.schoolinterviews.co.nz 2 enter our new school code 5n63n 3 follow the simple steps to make a booking 4 you will be automa cally sent an email with confirma on of the mes we look forward to mee ng with you all over the next week or at a me convenient to you billeting from time to time we ask families to assist in hosting visitors to te puke by billeting them in their homes thank you to those families who hosted players from galatea for the tai mitchell tournament during the school holidays currently we are seeking host families for students attending the aims games in week 9 families who indicated on their enrolment form a willingness to host will be approached first but if you would be keen to host two players from christchurch please make contact with mrs june gourlay or the school office immediately in total we need to find a place for 76 students so your help would be much appreciated cancer society mufti day on thursday 30 august the school council will be holding a mufti day to raise funds to support the cancer society daffodil day is actually on friday but the council prefers to have mufti on a thursday so we will hold ours the day before students may wear mufti on this day for $2 and we encourage people to wear yellow in support of the society daffodils will also be available for purchase at $1.00 students across the school have also asked the council to raise funds to donate to the life education trust to assist with the costs of replacing the van which was a victim of arson last term so on the same day there will be a sausage sizzle and juicie sale with all profit going to life ed ­ sausages $1.50 and juicies $1.00 attendance this is a reminder that if your student is absent from school we appreciate a phone call or text message to explain the absence please ring the office on 573 9352 and press 1 or text 027 573 9352.

specialist middle school education te puke intermediate school page 3 held in the last week of the term in a fortunately sunny interlude the cross country event was well par cipated in by the students and well supported by parents cheering their children on thank you to those who turned out in support we appreciated you coming along congratula ons to the 2012 cross country champions year 7 girl ­ hannah simmons year 7 boy ­ wipori tuanau year 8 girl ­ chanel wo en year 8 boy ­ josh buckton tpi cross country champions bede wipori liam chantelle hannah brooke lauren chanel amelia cole josh joe farewell to mr nixon this week we farewell mr jody nixon who leaves us to teach at maeroa intermediate in hamilton mr nixon has been an excellent science teacher enviroschools enthusiast basketball coach and chess club organiser we would like to thank mr nixon for his considerable input into our school over the past few years and wish him well for the future mrs rowan barton will return to tpi to teach science and continue her work with our international students we will miss you mr nixon
