safety and warranty safety europlay stands for innovative challenging yet safe playground equipment each new design is trying to combine and to reconcile security and childfriendliness the european en 1176 standard certificate is proof of this warranty · 10 years on dry rot and polyethylene sheets except wooden sheets small color differences are not under warranty · 5 years on metal corrosion for metal parts placed less than 5 km from the coast this warranty does not apply · 2 years on failure from construction defects the warranty is void if it appears that the playground equipment is not installed and maintained according to the installation instructions and maintenance requirements supplied by europlay the warranty does not apply to normal wear and failure due to vandalism and abuse wood is a natural material drought cracks or slight distortion are thus considered normal the warranty is void if it appears that the shock absorbing soil material is bark europlay » safety and warranty 5

europlay timber being used and their sustainability the most commonly used wood species at europlay is larch class iii a wood with very little sapwood and a durable core ideal for use in outdoor applications douglas class iii is used as an alternative for straight and strong wood structures has some more sapwood than larch so it is applicable to round wood of which sapwood is mostly milled oak class ii is a durable stable wood that is only used for round poles and square poles in contact with the ground wood with a natural durability is used the sawn timber has two parts the sapwood the outer part and the heartwood the inside of the trunk mostly darker colored this heartwood is in contrast to the sapwood naturally durable compared to cheaper pine wood woods such as larch douglas and oak contain relatively few sapwood and thus know a great natural durability making them especially suitable for outdoor use therefore the use of heavy metals for the protection of this wood is not required the round wooden poles are cut outside the heart all round poles come from quartered sawn timber this is wood cut outside the heart from which subsequently a round pole is milled advantages · no or little cracks in the roundwood · little splinters for some round wooden poles no heartless wood is used the heart of the tribe is still in the middle these poles also exhibit transverse cracks a normal phenomenon their usage is however limited to largediameter poles step poles or poles whose cracking is almost invisible impregnated pine pole after 6 months treated with heavy metals treated larch pole after 6 months without the use of heavy metals is the timber being treated durable woods such as larch do not need a treatment untreated timber however becomes grey over time therefore the wood gets an additional wood color by adding a light-colored tint which is much more colorfast than impregnated wood the little sapwood is simultaneously treated with propyconazole a biodegradable product no heavy metals copper chrome are being used is larch better than pine larch is a wood that is significantly heavier stronger and more durable than pine europlay uses each type of wood according to its natural properties this means that any type of wood can be used provided the sustainability is not compromised europlay » timber being used and their sustainability 7
