my side product expectations it s like having two beds in one with your my sidetm sleep system which incorporates the my side technologytm you and your partner can enjoy customised sleep zones manufactured specifically for your two individual body types the features of your my sidetm sleep system include · · side-by-side sleeping zones which are selected to correspond with your body type and size and that of your partner and mycoiltm which can assist with reducing partner disturbance designed to fit your body type your my sidetm sleep system is manufactured to conform to the shape of your body type usually within the first few nights and almost certainly within the first few weeks of use the comfort layers of the mattress will exhibit a body signature or conformity the body signature or conformity typically appears as dips or can be described as a ridge in the middle of the mattress a body signature or conformity is the result of the sleep surface conforming to fit your body which can help to provide you with a comfortable healthy night s sleep just like a new pair of shoes a set of bedding conforms to the individual using it and should become even more comfortable with use you should not be concerned if a body signature or conformity develops in your new my sidetm sleep system mattress refer to the section entitled body signatures impressions on page 20 for more information enjoy these helpful hints when first using your new my sidetm sleep system · as you may have previously slept on a firm or older mattress we recommend that you allow your body to become accustomed to the pressure-relieving conforming comfort of your new my sidetm sleep system this may take 4 to 6 weeks of continuous use in some instances if your my sidetm sleep system is a dual comfort system it will likely feature two distinctly different sleep areas and you will likely find that the side designed for your partner s body type is uncomfortable and does not suit you it is recommended that you do not change sides and always sleep on the side of the my sidetm mattress designed for your body type you may also feel a small area of transition in the middle of the mattress between the two sleep areas while moving from one side to the other the transition area is normal and you should not be concerned · gjw-015210-9-37-v3 page 2

my side product expectations dressing and supporting your my sidetm bed · · we recommend that you use sheets that fit and mattress protection that conforms to your my sidetm mattress linen and mattress protection come in a range of different sizes fitting linen of a size that is not suited to your my sidetm mattress can alter the feel of your sleep system and can cause the sensation of rolling in or rolling out your sleep consultant can assist you in recommending the linen and mattress protection sizing for your my sidetm sleep system please use this helpful guide to determine the fitted sheets and mattress protection sizing recommended for your my sidetm sleep system series 2 40cm wall depth series 4 40cm wall depth series 6 50cm wall depth series 8 50cm wall depth series 10 50cm wall depth · · · please keep in mind the addition of under blankets and electric blankets may also alter the feel of your sleep system ensure that your sleep system is supported by a base or furniture piece that complies with our guidelines a feeling of rolling together can be caused by bases that do not support the sleep system appropriately your sleep consultant can assist in providing you with helpful recommendations and advice further advice is provided in the next section entitled recommended support for your my side sleep system your sleep consultant can also assist you in recommending a pillow for use with your sleep system · for further details please also refer to pages 3 4 and 5 of the your mattress care package booklet that includes the my sidetm limited warranty and which was provided with your my sidetm sleep system at the time of the purchase gjw-015210-9-37-v3 page 3

recommended support for your my sidetm sleep system if your my sidetm sleep system is not supported appropriately the feel and performance of the surface of your sleeping system may be altered it s important for us to identify that your my sidetm mattress is supported by a base or furniture piece that complies with our recommendations including examples set out below and also described in the guidelines set out on page 4 of the your mattress care package booklet which includes the my sidetm limited warranty and was provided with your my sidetm sleep system the discussion below includes various examples of support bases or furniture pieces commonly utilized with mattresses generally the examples of support base types kingsdown consider are likely to provide sufficient support for your my sidetm mattress are indicated with a üand those considered unlikely to provide sufficient support are indicated with a û solid timber slat base if you propose using a support base with solid timber slats then it is recommended that it have the following features · · slats that are at least 19mm thick a centre support rail or beam head to foot and a centre support leg resting firmly on the floor for all king queen double sizes image 1a on the next page provides an example of a base considered likely to provide sufficient centre support · slats that are spaced no more than 70mm apart and 5 slats or more must be present to properly support the mattress image 1b on the next page provides an example of a base considered to have sufficient spacing between the slats without an appropriate centre support flexing or bowing of the my sidetm mattress may result and this may cause you to roll into the centre of the mattress and/or reduce the support the mattress can provide image 1c on page 9 provides an example of a base considered unlikely to provide sufficient centre support gjw-015210-9-37-v3 page 4

ensemble bases if you propose using an enemble base for your my sidetm mattress then it is recommended that the base be structurally supportive and that it have a sufficient number of legs/castors and that it is also of suitable quality to accommodate and support your my sidetm mattress please refer to our recommendations and examples set out below also refer to the recommendations described in the guidelines set out in item e on page 4 of the your mattress care package booklet which includes the my sidetm limited warranty and was provided with your my sidetm sleep system at the time of purchase a rigid ensemble base of timber construction is considered the most likely to provide the sufficient support for your my sidetm mattress image 2a and 2b below provide an example of an ensemble base that kingsdown consider likely to provide a sufficient level of support for your my sidetm mattress image 2a rigid ensemble base construction timber ensure all legs are firmly screwed into the ensemble base most importantly remember to check the centre leg on your ensemble base is present and correctly fitted please note that king size ensemble bases should be closely positioned together in the centre with no gap gjw-015210-9-37-v3 page 8

flexible and sprung ensemble bases may not provide sufficient support for your my sidetm mattress and could alter the feel of your mattress spring ensemble base support systems image 2c below 2d on the next page provide examples of ensemble bases that are considered unlikely to provide sufficient support for your my sidetm mattress image 2c sprung ensemble base sprung ensemble bases are usually easy to identify simply press down on the ensemble base firmly and determine whether it flexes or bows any flexing may reduce the performance or your my side tm mattress including causing rolling in a change in the feel of mattress from that experienced in store and a reduced support level you can resolve this by using the matching my sidetm ensemble base or alternatively it will usually be resolved by using a base that provides a similar level of support to that of the my sidetm ensemble base for example a rigid ensemble base described above image 2d sprung ensemble base gjw-015210-9-37-v3 page 10

flexible/posture slat support systems flexible/posture support bases are unlikely to provide sufficient support for your my sidetm mattress and are likely to alter the feel of your my sidetm mattress and as a result it may not replicate your initial instore experience such bases may also cause the sensation of rolling in/rolling out or reduce the support you receive from the my sidetm mattress kingsdown does not recommend the use of flexible/posture support bases with the my sidetm mattress image 3a 3b below provide examples of flexible/posture bases that are unlikely to provide sufficient support for your my sidetm mattress image 3a flexible/posture slat base flexible slat systems can come in numerous shapes sizes and designs flexible/posture slats can cause symptoms of rolling in rolling out and a reduced support level and as a result the mattress may not replicate your in-store experience image 3b flexible/posture slat base gjw-015210-9-37-v3 page 11

support base system performance assessment assessment it is important to identify if your support base system is impacting the performance of your my sidetm mattress if your support base system does not possess the recommended support characteristics discussed above then it may be contributing to the concern you have with with the performance of your my sidetm mattress we ask that you please follow the following simple instructions to determine whether or not your support base may be contributing to the concerns you have with your my sidetm mattress · · remove your my sidetm mattress from your support base system and place it on the floor sleep on the my sidetm mattress for up to three continuous nights with it removed from the support base system and assess whether this improves the performance of the mattress if you identify an improvement in the performance of your my sidetm mattress this will indicate that your concern may be as a result of the support base system you are using not providing sufficient support for your my sidetm mattress and not with your mattress itself if you determine that there may be an issue with your support base system then kingsdown recommend you identify whether changes may be made to the base that will improve the support provided to your my sidetm mattress for example if your base is a rigid slat system it may require a centre support rail or beam centre support leg or a new set of suitable solid slats examples of the support bases that are unlikely to possess the recommended support characterisatics for your my sidetm mattress are provided on page 13 gjw-015210-9-37-v3 page 12

linen and mattress protection for your my sidetm sleep system please keep in mind the additon of overlays flanelette sheets electric blankets may alter the feel of your my sidetm sleep system and could also cause the sensation of rolling in rolling out the feeling of loss of support may also potentially damage your mattress image 5a below provides an example of fitted linen sheet that is not fitted in accordance with kingsdown s recommendations image 5a use of a fitted sheet of a size not recommended this sheet does not fit the mattress in accordance with kingsdown s recommendation the wall depth of this fitted sheet is too shallow resulting in compression of the mattress corner images 5b 5c below provide an example of an electric blanket and lambs wool overlay that are fitted in accordance with kingsdown s recommendtations image 5b electric blanket image 5c lamb s wool overlay if you are using an electric blanket or a thick overlay please refer to the assessment procedure outlined below for determining whether the fitting is in accordance with kingsdown s recommendation gjw-015210-9-37-v3 page 15
