acc moms group newsletter plate a plenty by toni mcnulty o kick off spring break raewyn galloway organized a plate making activity for the children of acc after receiving a kit from the company which looked to be ordinary copy paper cut in circles kiddos with their parents and grandparents in tow turned up at patriot hall the morning of april 6th to color what may/june 2012 t would become their very own custom plate raewyn gave the option of picking up the papers directly from her coloring at leisure and returning them in lieu of an afternoon session all told thirty eight plates were made and dare i say there will be some very i hosted the morning session although i use the term hosted happy parents loosely as i just provided some spare come mother s washable markers directions for and father s coloring and spent the majority of days this year the time wrangling my own boys playgroups art class a big thank-you goes out to charlene fuller for coordinating a wonderful active playgroup she will be greatly missed when she moves this summer for a list of age specific playgroups please check under the files tab on the acc mom s group yahoo website t his spring we held a 4 week art class for children both preschool age and ages 6-12 both classes were well attended and the kids got to use watercolors and paints to create their own personal masterpieces if you are interested in coordinating a a big thanks playgroup or have suggestions for a playdate to lisette young for please contact lindsey carlson at her dedication to the lindseymcarlson@yahoo.com arts details of the two week long art camps in july are available on page 5 and at www.acc.poa.com acc mom s group events june 3 3rd annual mother/daughter tea party 2-4pm acc pavilion 23 boys fishing and camping­ fishing­ 8:00 am camping­ 6:00 pm place to be determined 1

may/june 2012 member side notes · save the date 3rd annual mother/daughter tea party june 3rd from 2 to 4 pm cost is $7.00 per child rsvp to raewyn galloway and email raewyn@jrgalloway.com for more info save the date boys fishing and camping­ june 23rd fishing starts at 8:00 am and s mores at 6:00 pm cost is $3.00 per child please rsvp charlene fuller or toni mcnutly save the date­ 4th annual father/daughter dance end of june/july save the date­ 1st annual mother/son picnic­ july · · · congratulations 2012 graduates c ongratulations to two families in the neighborhood with graduating seniors we all wish your students the best of luck with their graduations this spring and in their moves to college in the fall morgan crago graduating from village christian academy will be attending covenant college in lookout mountain ga christopher trumble graduating from overhills high school will be attending the university of texas in san antonio majoring in education mom s recipe exchange roasted tomato soup by kerri eldridge i know a lot of people do not associate the summer with soup but with all those fresh tomatoes from the garden how can you not make tomato soup this is a cuisine soup recipe that i love and i have included a few ways to make the soup easier or lower calorie roasted tomato soup 5lbs tomatoes stemmed and quartered 6 cloves of garlic or 3 teaspoons of minced garlic from a jar ¼ cup olive oil i omit the olive oil and just use pam olive oil spray to coat preheat oven to 450 combine in oven proof dish and roast for 40 minutes until tomatoes are soft they may also be browned which is fine saute for about 5 minutes in pot after tomatoes are done 2 tbs olive oilagain use pam olive oil spray 1 cup onion add 2 cups water ½t kosher salt ¼ t red pepper flakes we like it spicier so usually make it ½ t tomato mixture to include all water and small pieces bring to a boil and then simmer for about 10 minutes puree the soup in a blender until smooth i do not fill up the blender more then halfway and i always cover the top with a dish towel the steam from the soup will be strong so be careful when lifting the lid you can finish the soup off with fresh basil and ½ cup of heavy cream i usually omit the cream to make it a healthy soup and it is still delicious i have also added sautéed vegetables to make the soup a little heartier 7
