tauranga intermediate school 1 july 2010 school roll 1243 newsletter 2010/09 dear parents and students i hope you all have a very pleasant winter vacation school concludes for the term this friday at 3.00 pm and we resume again on monday 19 july 2010 at 8.30 am in winter uniform congratulations to all our students on their participation in science fair and we will look forward to seeing all the finalists on display this thursday rock climbing wall learning interviews parent student teacher interviews these are on tuesday 27 july 2010 1.00 pm 8.00 pm this is a time to discuss learning from terms 1 and 2 as well as set goals for the remainder of the year students are expected to attend these interviews notices have been issued this is your last chance to make a time to see your child s teacher we expect 100 attendance host families billets for the nzct aims games tournament thanks to the thirty five contributors to date i really appreciate your support if you would like to donate $100 towards buying a named foot or hand hold on the rock climbing wall please fill in the form or go on to our website www.tauranga-int.school.nz teacher only day monday 19 july 2010 is our second and last teacher only day although school is officially open please help us by keeping your children home on that day if it is not convenient then your child will be supervised at school regards brian diver this year we are looking to place sixty 60 students with our families for the aims tournament we are assisting chisnalwood intermediate and christchurch south intermediate we would appreciate everyone supporting these teams as it makes the aims tournament so much stronger and challenging every student who hosts a billet for aims will be allocated a house trophy point please register to host one or two students with mrs colville snr dp or mrs hampton sport co-ordinator thank you in anticipation we are exploring personal potential -1-

tauranga intermediate school newsletter vol 2010/9 01.07.10 billets families required billets billets sunday 5 september friday 10 september 2010 nzct aims games billets from south island we have been approached again from two christchurch intermediate schools to host sporting students who are competing in the nzct aims games we have helped out these schools in the past and wish to continue assisting them as it is hugely expensive for them to travel to this national sporting event billeting would be from sunday 5th september friday 10th september once at school their team would make their own travel arrangements for the day with team mini-vans christchurch south intermediate is sending up their netball team of 10 girls and a team of football boys approx 18 chisnalwood intermediate also has approx 30 students not sure yet what sports that they are competing in who also require hosting so if you re up for a new experience that week where you ll meet and get to know students from the south island can provide a bed meals and a safe family home for the students get them to school each day where they will make their own travel arrangements then we would love to hear from you please return to the sports o!ce yes i can take 1/2 girl/s/boy/s from christchurch south intermediate yes i can take 1/2 billet/s from chisnalwood intermediate boy/girl please circle students name room address phone number email address signed we are exploring personal potential -3-

tauranga intermediate school newsletter vol 2010/09 01.07.10 academic report term 3 learning interviews a three way conference tuesday 27th july it is coming to the end of another very busy and productive term at tauranga intermediate school teachers and students have been working hard to make academic gains in numeracy literacy and in particular science fair this term with this in mind it is a great opportunity to remind all parents family and whanau of our learning interviews that are only just around the corner in week 2 term three the purpose of these three way conferences is to have our teachers students parents family and whanau in communication about our students learning we have challenged each class to have 100 attendance for these learning interviews the vision of the new zealand curriculum is for our young people to be confident connected actively involved lifelong learners learning interviews will · · communicate clear dependable information about progress and achievement providing a basis for building a strong partnership between the child the teacher and the child s parents family and wh!nau to support learning and improve student outcomes provide information about a child s learning their progress and achievement that can then be used to support further learning a successful three way conference at tauranga intermediate will enable · all parents family and wh!nau to understand how their children s learning is progressing to become active involved supporters of their child s learning and the school programme all students to build a strong sense of achievement self-efficacy and motivation to engage with future learning students who would normally `switch off when faced with low achievement to remain motivated and willing to learn and students who are already disengaged to regain motivation · · we are exploring personal potential -5-
