1 one day there was one little boy called oscar and he had his own little pet lamb and he cared for it all by himself he lived in a big flowery meadow with lots of sheep goats butterflies and bees one very ordinary day he was going to the barn to see his horse friends and on the way he came across a pig who was named spotty and the pig said oink oink oink why don t you come and see the new farmer he is very interested in plants and animals the child answered back i think i ll come later right now i m going to see my horse friends in the barn oscar loved animals that evening oscar met a little girl named amanda and amanda asked if oscar wanted to have a play with her on saturday but oscar said that on saturday he would have to go to the farmer s house to see the farmer and just that very second amanda gave oscar a very selfish and left out sort of look the next day oscar s mum told him that he would be sent to a boarding school named woodland manor oscar was very surprised at this news but what about my animal friends and my new friend amanda the day after that oscar was packing ready to go to woodland manor boarding school once he was at his school he found out that amanda was also going to woodland manor he was surprised and shocked at the same time with a quizzical expression on his face he was about to ask amanda why she had come but amanda immediately saw oscar and straight away knew what he was going to ask so she immediately shot him a warning look that night oscar was slightly missing his mum and his dad so he decided to call them on the school s phone but someone else was already there and oscar couldn t see who it was but it looked like it was another child like amanda but he knew that he shouldn t open the door or it might be a teacher and he didn t want to get in trouble on his first day at school so he just left them and went back to his bed it was very hot and he couldn t sleep so he grabbed his rug and he went outside to sleep there and see if that was why he couldn t sleep.

2 when he was outside the school oscar put his rug down and slept on that even though it was very shaggy and not very comfortable at all but he said to himself mum and dad will probably be missing me at home too but they probably sent me here so i could make some new friends the next morning oscar woke up and went back to school before anyone saw him and when he was back at school he realised that he had almost missed breakfast so he quickly rushed into the dining room just in time to see the other new kids at the table with the teachers and the staff later on in the day he found out his form and was lead to his classroom by the teacher of the first form which was the form he was in when the class had started he quickly collected his stationary and books from the teacher and chose his seat in the back row with a girl called angelique she was a nice girl kind and generous but a bit bossy when oscar didn t do the right things with his work and when he didn t use the right pen or didn t do his work in the right book when morning school had finished he went to the stables to see all the horses the school had and he was surprised when he found that there weren t any horses there so oscar went to the meadows which the school owned for all of the animals that stayed at the school and in the third meadow he found five horses all standing around something so he pushed his way through and in the middle of the bunch there was a baby lamb oscar was very gentle with babies so he took the lamb to a spot in the meadow where there were lots of flowers and nice soft grass and he put the lamb there and gave it some food he had saved from breakfast that morning and the lamb seemed to like the food so he decided that every day he would save some food from breakfast to feed the little baby lamb after morning school and the day after that he did the very same thing later that day amanda asked oscar if he could go to the village to buy some chocolates for supper that day and because oscar also wanted to get a rug for the baby lamb from the village he said yes

3 the next day oscar had a french lesson he and his friends decided to play a trick on the french teacher mamzelle because she was the easiest person to play a trick on the people that were in on the trick were molly a kind hearted and very stern girl sometimes when it was needed kendrick who was a shy and hot tempered small boy and the little scottish boy andy who was also very shy but smart oscar also had a job in the trick shortly after that andy went to mamzelle and told her that he wasn t feeling very well and mamzelle immediately ran all the way down the hallway to matron s room and told her about andy and what he had said to her but matron said i don t think that he really feels sick they probably just wanting to trick you into letting them off school so please bring them to me after break and i will take his temperature and might give him some medicine while mamzelle was out in the hall way oscar grabbed his box of worms out from his bag and then he left his seat and went up to mamzelle s desk to put the worms in there when mamzelle returned from matron she opened up her desk to get her french writing book and got a very shocking surprise in seconds the only teacher that the first formers had was a squealing mamzelle and the children fell about laughing especially amanda after all of that oscar and amanda became firm friends and together they took the new blanket to the third meadow and both draped it onto the little baby lamb they kept feeding her all the rest of the term and their home sickness faded away as their friendship got stronger after a few weeks it was almost middle year and everyone was very excited to see their mums and dads and the exhibitions of the games and dances that they might be in at breakfast that day oscar chattered to amanda so loudly that ms rodger the sixth form mistress had to come over and tell him off so she could hear what the other teachers had to say about the next lesson.

4 in french oscar was reading his french poetry to mamzelle and andy just interrupted saying i heard from mummy and daddy yesterday that they bought a dog and they just found out today that it had heart problems and it wasn t very fortunate that it was andy interrupting because andy was one of mamzelle s favourites and the class ended up listening about andy s poor heart problem puppy and by the end of the lesson everyone knew everything you could ever know about a puppy after all that it was finally time for the middle year party and there was a giant table of scrumptious food for everyone to enjoy but in the middle of the lacrosse exhibition which oscar and amanda were in andy s friend molly started cheering for their opponents that molly didn t even know and also in the dancing exhibition andy was outside the dancing ring pretending to be a famous ballerina by putting on a spare ballet costume and spinning and leaping around once the party was over and all the mums and dads had gone the days started to fly even faster than they did before and very soon it was just a few weeks until the holiday and every single child in the whole school was very excited to be going home to see their brothers and sisters and mums and dads and in those few weeks there was a lot of noise and there was the sound of packing trunks but no one packed their night bag yet because that was to be done on the day before the holidays very soon there was only a few more days to go until the last day and there was already a lot of swapping email addresses and swapping phone numbers to friends and friend s friends and there were also a lot of people asking other people if they had seen a toothbrush or a hairbrush or a striped sock.

5 on the second last day mamzelle was as always hugging her favourites and forgiving them for their bad deeds that they had done earlier in the term even oscar as well as mamzelle matron was also being a cry baby and was hugging everyone for about an hour each on the last day there was a lot more crying and hugging and packing and there was also some apologies done from children to teachers but oscar and amanda had one more very important thing to do before they left they had to go over to the third meadow to say goodbye to the little lamb and they soon found out that the lamb was old enough to feed itself and was still using the blanket that amanda and oscar had bought her their job here was done suddenly oscar turned to amanda and said i m going to miss you amanda here is my phone number so you can call me in the holidays and then amanda turned to oscar and said here is my phone number so you can call me in the holidays after that they both hugged each other and wished each other many farewells after a few minutes there came a rumbling noise coming from the school driveway and all the children getting taken home on the bus ran outside including amanda and oscar the end
