debutantes shine traditions such as the debutantes ball which started 40 years ago are still strong at bryanston high school the debutantes and squires competition gives learners the opportunity to use their entrepreneurial skills to raise substantial funds for the school and for charity the top fund-raiser kelly cook was crowned at a lavish formal ball held at the indaba hotel on 18 may girls in white ball gowns and boys in tuxedos the 44 debutantes and 4 squires were honoured at this magical evening a fond farewell to veronica webb after 39 years teaching mathematics veronica webb retired from bryanston high school under her guidance as head of academics the school s academic standards remain the highest in the district with over 84 of all matriculants achieving veronica webb retired after 18 years of university exemptions teaching maths at bryanston high school mrs webb has taught at she is pictured here with two new maths bryanston high school for teachers danny barkay and ricky the past 18 years where mcintyre who have joined the staff to she has mentored both build on her legacy of exceptional staff and learners alike standards mrs webb is a lady of such integrity intelligence humility and kindness but the one word that immediately comes to mind is respect said dominic alves chairman of the src at an emotional farewell held for mrs webb at the school she has demonstrated how to balance discipline and fun equipping her students to excel in life well beyond school added genna lee uren one of the matric executive counsellors however bryanston high is yet again blessed with talented teaching staff as two new maths teachers have joined the staff danny barkay and ricky mcintyre have had the benefit of a few months under mrs webb s guidance and will continue her sterling work maintaining exceptional standards in the maths classroom bryanston high school wishes mrs webb well in her retirement and thanks her for her devotion to the school most beautiful debutante and most dapper squire l-r amber kayser 2nd princess jonathon biggs maxine clement winner rosina kaseka 1st princess greased lightning strikes last week bryanston high school presented their annual major production grease ­ the musical to tumultuous applause five months of dedication and hard work resulted in this amazingly talented toe-tapping production which had the audience laughing jiving in their seats and wanting to sing-along to this timeless classic many of the bryanston high learners were performing in their fifth major production some with younger siblings joining them to experience that camaraderie and team spirit that a live show promotes learners not only made up the cast but also played instruments in the backing band and took charge of the sound and lighting bryanston high is blessed with talented dedicated staff such as mrs turvey who produced the show miss hein who choreographed the intense dance routines mr basson who created the sets and mr victor the musical director who knew that our headboy could sing and dance so well from the cheeky t-bird boys to the swirling skirts and gorgeous pink ladies grease proved immense fun for both cast and audience alike visit our facebook page for lots of photos from the show winning smiles of the top fund raisers clockwise from bottom left lorna davidson caitlin van dyn kelly cook debutante winner tanika kennedy cayley jorgenson there are lots more pics on our facebook page tryphina boloka our deepest sympathy and thoughts go to beer and the boloka family on the passing of his wife tryphina who worked at bryanston high school for approximately six years she was a very special lady who is really going to be missed ian maxwell we would also like to extend our condolences to mrs maxwell and her two sons on the passing of her husband ian.
