my initial reaction my initial reaction to the first day of class was that i knew creating an e-portfolio would be a lot of work but i was interested in learning more about integrating technology into the classroom i had created a google site for my 650 technology course so i was somewhat familiar with the process i was very impressed when i saw sites created by other students i think that using these sites to help students and teachers will definitely help students to perform better in both classes and on state exams parents will also be able to be more involved in their child s academic career since they will have direct access to assignments and can see the material being taught also the translation tool can greatly benefit teachers and parents since it can help parents better understand and communicate with teachers overall i am looking forward to learning new technological techniques and using them to help my students enjoy learning i really like the idea of having a fun learning section this will help students learn to enjoy and love learning which will last a lifetime my background my name is victoria rosen and i graduated from queens college with a bachelor s degree in sociology and i have a master s degree in general and special education in early childhood birth grade 2 from touro college i have taken the classes required to extend my license to grades 7 12 in both general and special education and i am currently taking the necessary course to extend my license to grades 1 6 in both general and special education i have worked in several afterschool programs and summer camps in addition i worked at a pre-school as a teacher s assistant the preschool was a combination of both a private school and a universal preschool upk currently i am a special education teacher support services setss provider at a nyc public high school i push into different subject classrooms across grades nine to twelve and i work with resource room students in addition i create ieps for the thirty students on my caseload and in addition i record their daily attendance on sesis internet acceptable use policy aup web pages shall not display photographs videos or other images of any identifiable individual other than a historical or public figure without a signed release releases for students under the age of 18 must be signed by their parent or lawful guardian teacher web pages subject to district-wide policies and procedures teachers may establish web pages for use with class activities or to provide a resource for other teachers teachers will be responsible for maintaining their class or educational resource sites teacher web pages will not be considered official material but will be developed in such a manner as to reflect well upon the department district and school my final project ­ victoria rosen page 2

selection of material when using the internet for class activities teachers should select material that is appropriate in light of the age of the students and that is relevant to the course objectives and preview the materials and sites they require students to access to determine the appropriateness of the material contained on or accessed through the site it is important that doe employees follow these rules in order to ensure the safety of both students and employees it is important that photographs or videos of students are not put online so that no unauthorized individuals will be able to identify any students this helps to ensure that only a person who actually knows the student will be able to identify him or her it is also important that if a teacher decides to create a webpage to use with their class he or she will be responsible for the content on their page also it is important to note that any material placed on a teacher s site is not official material and content will reflect positively on the school and the doe in addition it is important that teachers select material that is appropriate for their students and is relevant to the material being taught in the course teachers should also preview material and sites to ensure that it is appropriate for students my final project ­ victoria rosen page 3
