kia ora koutou i hope you all had a relaxing break over the long weekend it is always nice to have an extra day to catch up this wednesday evening our special parent event is a maths evening maths has changed since parents were at school and often feel that they can t help at home because they are doing it wrong if you would like an overview of how maths is taught and the stages that children go through to learn different aspects of maths come along at 7pm tomorrow night we will also give you some ideas of some games that you can play to practice basic facts and other core skills the meeting is in the multipurpose space at 7pm mr trotter is hosting this event welcome welcome to cameron who started in sheppard last week playground update last week i put an application in to a local charitable fund for a contribution towards our playground we should hear back from this group within the next few weeks keep your fingers crossed wacky pj day a reminder that on wednesday 13 june we will host a pj day which will cost a gold coin donation children will be consulted on what they would like the money to go towards national standards reporting in week 2 of term 3 each child with the exception of recent new entrant children will receive the first written national standards report for the year this report has been slightly modified from your feedback last year however still has the graphs that you loved and most of the same information we have not scheduled parent meetings to coincide with these reports as parents felt last year that they were easy enough to understand however if you would like to discuss the content of the reports you are welcome to book a meeting with your child s guardian these appointments will be made directly with the teacher rather than having a digital booking sheet children in ngata 1 will receive their reports in week 9 of this term so that parents have the opportunity to meet with miss clark before she goes on leave at the end of term 3 parents will be invited to student led conferences where your children will explain their learning to you there will be more information about this closer to the time netball reminder if your child is in one of the top two teams a $20 bond needs to be paid before we issue the new uniforms at this stage the complete set is still not here however we will let you know when it arrives scholastic book club the scholastic brochures were sent home last week if you would like to order from them please have your order in by this friday 8th june if you wish to order something as a present please make a note on the order and we let you know when the order arrives road patrol a big thank you to the parents who are helping with road patrol each morning and afternoon we are very grateful for your help and could not manage the roads without you we do need one more person to cover the monday afternoon patrol it is only from 2:30 2:45pm and we would appreciate it if someone could fill that gap.
