presidents report hello all gvrha members firstly i would like to welcome on board gvrha s newest sponsors the `australian horseman equissage the national centre for equine education tafe affordable tack and horsewear our long time sponsor and fantastic supporter of our club evelyn woods who has been very much missed around the shows for the past two months we have been running a club fundraiser for mothers day we had the wonderful support of several businesses supplying generous products to help raise money for the club we ended up having enough products to supply a 1st 2nd 3rd place prizes i would like to make special mention of the dal zotto family from dal zotto wines king valley north east victoria for supplying wine and the nights accommodation for the pamper pack it is great to see lynne dal zotto bringing her daughters india and mia to the youth clinic this coming month the winning tickets were drawn on mothers day by david norbury bron gooden from seaford received a nice surprise on mothers day when we phoned her to say she had won her 9 year old daughter brought her a the ticket 2nd placing was kerry cribb and 3rd placing was jade knight from wangaratta a big thank you to all those members who helped sell tickets for this fundraiser seeing the club make a sizable profit gvrha members have competed very successfully at some major shows over the past few months these being the riverina reining horse association rrha `autumn slide and aqha /ra q12 reining at tamworth our members have done our club proud including mick taylor winning the q12 non pro derby on his horse whizzel with me gvrha youth member lana kelderman picked up the aqha all age reserve champion reining youth and q12 under 13 reining youth champion well done guys gvrha members lisa teitz suz sims sara agnew jenny holmes ciro casa and myself all placed or won their class at the rrha `autumn slide show i hope i haven t missed anyone we had a great representation of gvrha members at this show and i would like to commend the committee members of rrha for putting on such a wonderful show i would like to make a point of encouraging all our members to take advantage of the nrha judges seminar which gvrha will be running at the end of august at the tatura hotel this is a great opportunity for all members to have nrha judge ollie griffith visit us from the usa with his knowledge and understanding of the sport of reining i must stress you do not have to aspire to be a judge a judges clinics is possibly the most informative clinic you will ever attend as a competitor because you will be getting coached from a judges point of view this clinic will be an amazing opportunity and a great way to find out what judges really look for how your reining runs are really scored and are a great way for you to see the things you are doing well and things that are letting you down to sit the formal judging test this will cost an extra $200 for nrha to mark the test and perform appropriate paper work for bookings contact michelle mcdonald brettamcdonald@bigpond.com phone 040 240 8666 or visit www.gvrha.com for more information booking forms please note payment must be made with your booking form to confrim your spot most members have no idea how much effort is required to run this club michelle works a minimum 5 6 hours a day doing gv work and in the weeks leading up to a show we personally do not get to bed before 1-2am every night trying to get the show organised all of this goes unnoticed by the average member and very few people spare a thought for the effort that she puts in as well as on show day looking after our 3 year old daughter and also helping me prepare our horses for showing all of which is beginning to burn her out for this reason i would like to express a very heart felt thank you to the people who offer assistance at the shows quite a number of people are required to run a show mick taylor takes a day off work to lend his tractor and drag to prepare the surface every show he will not even accept fuel money for the tractor we have had brett condor dragging all day long and then cooking the barbie at night his wife shelly also helping in the office steff smith and deb versluis donate their time scribing every show all day long bruce wendy and georgia help all weekend in the office on the gate announcing and taking photos etc and then at end of the weekend when everyone else is comfortably on their way home bruce and georgia have to go around and clean the stables of a minority who haven t the curteousy to leave their stables clean so please clean your stables at the end of every show as this is the last thing these guys need to do after a show terry jones suz sims jackie chelsea ragg ellie saber lana kelderman all help in the office on the gate paid time announcing running scores organising prizes announcing and anything else i would like to thank suzanne sims personally for her wonderful time and effort for making and donating the lovely tail bags for our show prizes and helping out organising the mother s day raffle with michelle i am sure i have unintentionally left some people out so thanks to you also we have various people donating their time to assist with lessons and a big thanks goes out to cameron halliwell who was very popular giving lessons at our first show all of this work is done so you can have fun at the show so spare a thought for these people and how much is being done for you and remember the best way you can show your appreciation is to offer them some help by lightening their work load we can all enjoy the show some exciting shows are coming up at tatura park these including the joint vrha gvrha buckle series shows on the 15th/16th september 9th/10th/11th november the november show will also see the introduction of a night session with entertainment from the scuds and refreshments the night session `ride slide to equitana will showcase the open non pro riders for the reining at equitana melbourne we are also securing some great prizes in the coming shows so keep an eye out for the program remember the only way to get good is to keep on sticking your nose into the show pen
