santa s shadow by philo shelton it was a windy cold bright full moon christmas night in 2006 i reluctantly wiped the sand in the corners of my eyes while my vision adjusted to the light i was lying in my blue and white racecar bed the floor was cold as i walked to my door the door handle felt like ice i opened the door and stepped out into the hallway the moonlight came through the windows in our gilpin county house the silver bright moonlight made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up then i saw a medium plump shadow on the cold wood floor i slowly edged backwards and turned around i started to sprint down the hall i ran strait into my mom s room and i jumped onto my mom s flour and clover bed my mom woke up and asked what happened i told her the whole story she said let s sleep now i slept peacefully for the rest of the night then i woke up on christmas morning next i woke everyone up and i felt special because i saw santa s shadow as we saw what he brought i knew at that moment that i would never see anything the same in my life so i vowed to my self that i would never forget that moment i never have and i never will.

bailey by philo shelton my dog is named bailey he is a male even though people think he is a female that s because he has a girl name he licks countless times a day his tongue is 6 inches long when he licks his tongue extends 1 inch his tongue is as long as a tapeworm he is a very confusing breed bailey is a katuhula border collie australian shepherd mix his brown and black eyes are always gleaming with energetic enthusiasm bailey has brown black tan and white fur his fur always goes crazy when he runs in the wind we got bailey at the pound and he is about 3 years old his medium size helps him be quick and agile but not seen easily once i couldn t find him i looked for him for thirty minutes that proves that his medium size hides him well he turned out to be lying under a tree bailey is a great dog to be around.

this i believe by philo shelton i believe that change is good when i was six we moved to steamboat from gilpin county i thought that the change would never be good but what did i know we moved a little after christmas sadly i got into the car thinking about all the things i was leaving behind i thought about them in the three hour car ride i continued thinking that change was bad what did i know we moved into our apartment that we would live in school came along and it was my first day at the new school i walked to the gray modular that was our classroom i was nervous about what would happen walking into the classroom i was thinking that they were going to laugh about my sensory problems i still thought that change was bad but what did i know to my surprise every one was nice to me the only thing that got me annoyed was them asking about my sensory problems the day went on fine until what i thought was a fifteen minute bus ride turned out to be an hour ride i sat on the bus with only my sister for company my mom was waiting for us to arrive thinking that the bus ride was only 15 minutes as well i still thought that change was bad but what did i know i began to make friends only to remind myself of having to leave my best friend i still began to like steamboat though as the days went by i met friends that are still my friends i still thought that change was bad but what did i know when summer came along i really began to like steamboat apishly because we moved into our new house my cousins came up from denver and there was so much dog poop in the back yard every pound we picked up we got five dollars i still thought change was bad but what did i know after the summer i loved steamboat we even made our yearly trip to new hampshire by that time i realized that change is good i had to be brave to move concerting that in preschool i would barley talk normally i would whisper to my best friend what i wanted to say he would repeat what i had told him every time i would say a word to some one else i would get a sticker a sticker would equal a skittle but that s another story anyway i realized that change will teach you more than a teacher will ever now that i know that i m moving from steamboat to los alamos n m i feel like i six again i need to remind myself that change is good and it always will be.
