activity days activity days activity days activity days are an opportunity for pupils to try something new last year we had a massive range of activities available and the pupils had a great time this year we once again have a variety of different activities for the pupils to try this booklet lists all the activities their prices and the number of places available all you need to do at the moment is look through the booklet and choose the activities your son or daughter would like to do then they will need to login to the learning hub and choose their activities this will be live at 9:00am on thursday 31st of may once we have the lists of pupils they will get a letter explaining what they have chosen and also how much if anything they need to pay.

free activities free activities free activities beachcombing we will be walking the coast path from bude to sandymouth out on the coast path and back on the beach if the tides permit we will stop for lunch at sandymouth where you can eat packed lunch or buy your food at the cafe if the weather is good we will stop off at the beach for games and swimming so bring your swimming gear remember you will have to carry anything you bring all the way there and back last year we were lucky enough to have a beach safety talk on the way from the rnli lifeguard make sure you bring clothing appropriate for the weather and plenty to drink require sun cream/hat if weather is good and waterproof if weather not so good sturdy footwear for walking flip flops in your bag number of places 50 number of days 1 cost free a fun day of games on the beach water polo in the sea pool,beach volleyball,beach flags relays beach rugby/football/rounders etc beach games number of places 60 number of days 1 cost free collages come and make your version of the `human footprint create a life size body print and collage it with magazines and pictures bring loads of your own magazines and other materials for decoration number of places 30 number of days 1 cost free

free activities free activities free activities cycling good aerobic exercise along minor roads and lanes including hills horrid on the way up lovely on the way down 10-15 miles each day reasonable levels of fitness cycle helmet and well maintained bike with more than 1 gear essential please make sure that your cycle is in good condition you must wear a safety helmet you will not be allowed to take part without one please make sure you bring the following items with you waterproof clothing lunch a drink some spending money for a snack or drink at lunchtime sun-cream number of places 30 number of days 1 cost free in partnership with bude junior gig rowing club this is your opportunity to learn how to gig row on tamar lake this can be done as a one day activity or as a two day activity but be prepared for blisters if you do it as a two day activity own transport to tamar lakes will need to be arranged you will need to wrap up warm footwear that can get wet not sandals and shorts/trousers that can get wet cycling/rowing clothes are preferred but not essential gig rowing number of places 12 number of days 1 cost free hair beauty students will have opportunity to explore various approaches to how to use make up and create hairstyles for a `daytime look and an `evening look they should bring in some make up and any accessories from home as well as any appliances such as tongs straighteners and hairdryers please can you ensure that these are all safety checked don t forget cleansers and tissues as well no permanent chemical processes will be used clothes to accompany each look may be brought in as there should be opportunities for photos some products will be provided number of places 30 number of days 1 cost free

free activities free activities free activities creating murals that will be hung in the student toilets throughout the school painted onto boards then mounted in the newly decorated toilets when complete students should be from year 9 10 art gcse groups the work could be added to coursework murals in the loos number of places 20 number of days 2 cost free musical theatre workshop this will involve mainly learning songs from various shows e.g chicago grease little shop of horrors mamma mia etc adding a little bit of movement and acting into it as well with solo performers and group performances if students don t want to sing then they can play instrumental parts there may be an opportunity to do a performance at the end of day 2 number of places 20 number of days 2 cost free enjoy reading we will get together to read novels of our choice on the beach hopefully in the glorious sunshine we ll also pause and chat about the novels we are reading and share opinions of course we can t read without refreshments so we will have tea coffee juice and biscuits to keep us going throughout the day reading on the beach number of places 30 number of days 1 cost free

£5 under £5 under £5 under you will be split into 5 groups ­ you will build cover papiermâché paint and decorate dragon heads and if time permits you will perform a short dance/parade with the dragons after lunch the whole activity will be photographed and a display produced those making the kites will work to the same timescale and obviously if time permits you will be flying your kites on the field behind the sports hall after lunch not dancing with them chinese dragons number of places 60 number of days 1 cost £2 fantasy shoes pupils will have the opportunity to modify an exsisting shoe/shoes to create a 3d fantasy art piece they can explore their own theme will be using mixed media -card materials glitter beads feathers sequins etc number of places 15 number of days 1 cost £2 who is sid phillips answer he s an evil character in toy story sadly he damages toys but he s also pretty creative in that he re-invents new ones if you d like to create new types of dolls and you enjoy the challenges of drawing sewing collage and other art techniques then this is for you quirky dolls number of places 25 number of days 1 cost £2

£5 under £5 under £5 under fabric to fashion shoot do you like fashion and design are you interested in the fashion industry we are going to spend two days making a beach/summer fashion garment such as board shorts summer skirts or a beach playsuit you will be able to choose from a range of fabrics or you can provide your own fabric we will work from commercial patterns to cut out and sew the items and then towards the end of the two days we will organise a fashion shoot so you or a friend can model your item number of places 18 number of days 2 cost £3 bodyboarding on fairly local beaches all three members of staff are committed and experienced surfers or bodyboarders with many years experience of the north cornwall beaches mr stritch is also a beach qualified lifeguard who works in this capacity for the rnli during high season the emphasis in this activity will be on having fun and making the maximum use of the wonderful resource on our doorsteps we have a minibus so we can travel to the beach which is most suitable for the conditions on a particular day pupils will be closely supervised in the sea but must be confident swimmers each pupil will need a board wetsuit and surf flippers they should expect to surf for several hours each day with appropriate rests and nourishment beginners or shredders will receive tuition and video analysis equipment permitting there will be a small charge to cover fuel car parking and prizes fingers crossed for a good swell participants must be confident competent swimmers with the equipment listed above no pupil will be allowed on this activity without the correct equipment or if they do not successfully complete a 100m swim bodyboarding number of places 15 number of days 2 cost £4 olympic murals 2012 students to contsruct and paint large figure murals relating to olympic althletes in action illustrating stength stamina and speed number of places 10 number of days 2 cost £4

£20 over £20 over £20 over recreational cycling aiming to complete the camel and tarka cycle trials over the two days travelling to wadebridge and cycling the camel trial with a chance to have fish and chips by the seaside cycling the tarka trial barnstaple to braunton tbc with picnic on route cycling whatever the weather costs will include hire of bikes and helmets good level of fitness required and basic cycling skills required number of places 18 number of days 2 cost £25 1 or 2 days activity at coles mill stables holsworthy to inculde a ridng lesson or hack and stable management sessions own transport will be needed pupils may bring their own pony by arrangement equestrian number of places 25 number of days 1 cost £28 paintball at big dunks paintballing big dunks with gas powered semi automatic paintball guns at big dunks paintball you will enjoy games in various scenarios you will be supplied with fresh fatigues full face safety goggles and enough paint balls to last each game before play you will be given safety instructions and rules from experienced and friendly marshals some games you might play consist of capture the flag siege the castle and search and destroy you will be expected to bring a packet lunch a spare change of clothes and a black bin bag to put any dirty clothes in this is suitable for both boys and girls in all years warning paintballs hurt when they hit you and you could get bruised number of places 50 number of days 1 cost £30

£20 over £20 over £20 over paintball at survival paintball southdown woods 5 games 50 paintballs a game similar activity to big dunks number of places 30 number of days 1 cost £30 paintball survival pottery for a day pupils will visit a professional ceramics workshop where they will have the opportunity to throw pots and hand build ceramics any work produced will be kept once it has been fired so several weeks later and can be used as gcse course work for art number of places 10 number of days 1 cost £24 a day at the ultimate adventure centre in bideford think of it as bideford s version of total wipeout including the `big balls you will get wet so make sure that you bring a towel and change of clothes you should wear shorts or swimwear for the activity as a wetsuit is provided and suitable footwear it s an assualt course after all bring a packed lunch as we ll be spending time after the assault course `dining in westward ho safety helmet and buoyancy aid are provided but you must be able to swiim at least 10m the ultimate high number of places 25 number of days 1 cost £30 roadford sailing camping camping on monday evening to get an early start for sailing windsurfing and or other watersports at roadford lake on tuesday bbqweather permittingand camping tuesday night high ropes course on wednesday and return to school must be able to swim 25m will need own sleeping bag sleeping mat mug cutlery bowl and plate number of places 24 number of days 2 cost £50
