compressing pictures to conserve file space important you will want to do this before you import pictures into your photo story or movie maker project save pictures from internet · · · · if it s a thumbnail ­ double click to enlarge it right click on the picture select save picture as select where you want to save it name it make sure you save it as a jpeg click save compress pictures · · · · · · go to folder where you save the picture click view details to see file size click on picture to open will open in windows picture viewer click on icon next to help in lower right-hand corner of picture this takes picture into paint for editing go to image stretch skew under stretch change to 50 for horizontal and vertical click ok you may even want to do this again under image stretch skew to make the picture a little smaller save the new picture · · · go to file save as select where you want to save the picture click save and then save with a new name go back and then delete the picture with the larger file © prosper isd 2007 4

photo story 1 click start programs photo story 3 for windows 2 select which option you would like to use if you are creating a story for the first time select begin a new story click next edit a project will allow you to edit a project you have already loaded into photo story play a story will allow you to view a story you have already created © prosper isd 2007 5

import and arrange pictures 1 select import pictures 2 locate the folder where you previously saved your images click on the images images you would like to insert into your story and click ok © prosper isd 2007 6

you will notice the pictures appear in the timeline down at the bottom of the photo story screen 3 repeat steps 1 2 until all images appear in the photo story timeline click next © prosper isd 2007 7

adding picture effects and titles on the next screen you will see that you can add effects to your images and type titles that will appear on each picture 1 click on the image at the bottom of the time line that you would like to add an effect or title title 2 repeat the above steps until you have added all the desired titles and effects you would like © prosper isd 2007 8

customizing motion a neat feature of photo story is the ability to customize the motion that will appear when your story plays you can choose start stop locations on each picture this allows you to get a more customized look and feel to your story 1 click once on the image in the timeline you would like to customize 2 click customize motion 3 you will have 2 options a motion duration ­ where do you want the image to start and stop playing and how to do you want the images to be seen b transition ­ what special effects would you like to see between each of the images © prosper isd 2007 9

7 click on the motion and duration tab 8 place a check next to specify start and end position of motion 9 once you have noted that you would like to specify start and end positions you will be given the editing tool similar to the resize tool in word that will allow you to move the motion window to a desired size and location © prosper isd 2007 11

10 once you have this where you think you would like it click preview to see how your pictures will be played 11 if you would like the image to display longer change the duration in seconds otherwise the program will default to automatic 12 click the transition tab and select the transition you would like to use between pictures click save close 10 repeat the above steps so that you add a motion path and transition to each image as desired 11 click next to add background music adding background music make sure you adhere to all copyright rules regulations when using sound in presentations please refer to the pisd website for information 1 you will have 2 choices when creating background music a select music ­ allows you to insert music you have previously saved to your computer b create music ­ the program allows you to create music from a bank of sounds that are already pre-loaded © prosper isd 2007 12

select music 1 select the image in the timeline where you would like to add music 2 click the select music button 3 locate the sound you would like to insert remember to adhere to copyright rules 4 click on the track you would like to insert and then click open 5 you will notice the track will now appear just above the timeline in photo story you will have to be responsible for editing the sound to adhere to copyright laws as it is not done for you in the program © prosper isd 2007 13

6 repeat these steps until all background music is entered as you desire create music 1 select the image in the timeline where you would like to add music 2 click on the create music button 3 select the music file you would like to use you can click play at the bottom of the screen to get a preview of the sound 4 click ok you will note the sound appears just above the timeline of images © prosper isd 2007 14

saving your story once you have created your story it is very important how you save it so that it can be viewed properly later you will need to save your project twice once as a .wmv file so that you can see it once as a photo story file so you can edit saving a .wmv file select ­ save your story for playback on your computer this will ensure the file is in a windows media video and will be able to play back on most computers make sure you give the video a good file name and make sure you know where it is going to be saved click next and your story will start building this may take a few minutes depending on files and music added click view your story © prosper isd 2007 15
