project based learning project-based learning is a dynamic approach to teaching in which students explore real-world problems and challenges with this type of active and engaged learning students are inspired to obtain a deeper knowledge of the subjects they re studying.

school history new tech west first took in 9th and 10th graders in august of 2010 it started at garrett morgan campus and was then moved to max hayes for more space we focus on building a strong academic and technical skills necessary to be successful in college school work mainly focuses on collaboration skills and group work in students junior and senior year they are expected to participate post-secondary option coursework and to seek out internships in the community to explore career options.

past projects one of our projects was how would you vote you had to debate on how you would vote on new laws about immigration and why you would vote that way another project was the science fair we had to pick something that interested us in science and we then had to do a report on it and present it to judges.

why choose a new tech school if you go to a new tech school you will be immersed in technology you will be allowed on the computers in almost every class and you get to do work on the computers which makes it easier and more fun we can also listen to music with our own mp3 while we are doing our work which helps a lot of people concentrate harder.

9th grade courses world studies a two credit team taught course integrating the english 9 and world history standards psa a two credit team taught course integrating the physical science and algebra i standards digital media/medios digitales one credit course focusing on building skills in the adobe suite this course fulfils the graduation requirement for art spanish i/el espanol utilizing rosetta stone spanish i develops beginning fluency in spanish with an emphasis on the cultural aspects of the hispanic culture.

sports/clubs new tech joins max hayes when it come to los deportes we participate in basquetbol beisbol softball,niñas basquetbol rowing track and cross country for all those big football fans max hayes is working on that as for those clubs new tech has friday clubs basically is a class to relax and hangout with friends and do whatever you want to do in that club clubs consist of juegos de mesa bailar y el ajedrez.

field trips at the end of every school year we go to cedar point the requirements to go are $35 no suspensions money for lunch+dinner cedar point is not the only field trip that takes place some classes have field trips but only students with a or b or perfect attendance almost the entire school went to the short film festival at tower city.
