dear friends 2011 has been an amazing year in the ministry of the voice in the wilderness please take the opportunity to read through this final printed edition for this year and praise the lord with us for the great things he hath done the remaining two 2011 publications will only be available on our web-site you have been such a vital part and we thank you for your faithfulness the voice in the wilderness chose revelation 19:13 as our theme verse for 2011 throughout the year our preaching and conferences have centered on the word of god and the importance of each local church teaching the scriptures i never would have anticipated the challenges and resistance presented by bible preaching ministries when it comes to taking a definitive stand on the word of god behold the days come saith the lord god that i will send a famine in the land not a famine of bread nor a thirst for water but of hearing the words of the lord amos 8:11 i repeat never would i have anticipated brethren that i have fellowshipped with and even preached for being so reluctant to take a definitive stand on the word of god it has been sad over the past eighteen months to see church bulletins sunday school literature and even power point presentations using modern bible versions in churches that i thought were taking a solid stand on the preserved word of god then at the same time it has been a joy and encouragement to have thousands sign the king james bible declaration celebrating the 400th anniversary of the kjb as well as order thousands of our 400th anniversary lapel pins amos records a sad condition that is evident in our land today there is indeed a famine in the land it s not only the lack of teaching and preaching the word of god but an obvious resistance to hearing the words of the lord along with the therapeutic preaching of many present day pulpits comes a demand from the pew for a watered-down version of scripture the famine truly exists in the willingness to hear sound doctrine all too often the desire is a validation of lifestyle rather than the pure preaching and conviction brought by the faithful administering of god s word pastors that just a short while ago stood firm on the kjb but now are allowing the niv nkjv even the esv in their pulpit classrooms and literature seemingly are oblivious to the continued on page 29 for more resources visit www.thevoiceinthewilderness.org ·3

news bits from here and there 50 year anniversary of the genesis flood the publishing of the genesis flood by john c whitcomb and henry m morris 50 years ago is the recognized birthdate of a monumental milestone in the fight against compromise carefully written and welldocumented this book has since become a classic apologetic for biblical creationism and the universality of the flood described in the book of genesis the genesis flood asks the reader to consider the reorientation of pertinent scientific data within the framework for biblical creationism and catastrophism manda knox should teach american parents lessons that need not be learned her dad was asked what would be one of the first things he would like to do when his daughter is released from jail and returns home from italy he said i would like to have the 21st birthday drink with her and then her mother chimes in and says also her 22nd 23rd and 24th drinks with her talk about opening your mouth and stupid coming out it is this drinking partying fornicating lifestyle that positioned amanda knox for the trouble she was in when will parents stop enabling young people to attend party schools and expose their children to drink drugs immorality and criminal behavior these college age students obviously do not have the discernment needed when it comes to exposure to lifetime destroying decisions parents must have the reasonable thinking and courage to know that their financing of a student with the freedom to associate with people involved in alcohol drugs and perversion of all sorts will not lead to education but heartache i have seen repeatedly even among christian homes parents exposing their children to the school of hard-knocks when totally unnecessary ith almost two-dozen arab islamic countries embroiled in protest wars in iraq and afghanistan iran a nuclear threat and america questionable on israel god s holy word gives anchor to our soul volcanic activities earthquakes floods and catastrophes fill the news headlines financial calamities abound globally but beware for out of all this chaos will out of 9/11/11 and ground zero rises the one world trade center a w 4·the voice in the wilderness fall/winter 2011 quarterly edition

ta ke t he 2011 as 2011 comes to a close our nation faces some critical decisions the heritage foundation presented the following poll for the american taxpayer these are sobering questions to consider · do you believe that the obama administration is attempting to control too much tax too much and spend too much in order to do too much · yes · no · not sure · how much do you think the federal budget should be cut in the next fiscal year · more than $300 billion · $100 billion · $50 billion · $10 billion · other · no cuts needed · the $827 billion stimulus not only failed to reduce unemployment as the president and congress promised but much of the money is being wasted one project spent $500,000 and didn t even create two jobs should the remainder of the unspent stimulus be returned to the federal treasury · yes · no · not sure · yes · no · not sure · · do you favor across-the-board tax increases to help lower the deficit current entitlements such as social security medicare and medicaid will require the government to set aside at least $40 trillion to meet its obligations paying for these programs solely through income tax increases would require more than a twofold increase of the current tax rates even for the lowest bracket are you in favor of no reforms to entitlements and willing to pay double in taxes to fund them · yes · no · not sure · according to a government accountability office report duplicate government programs cost taxpayers $100 billion for example the department of transportation spends $58 billion on 100 programs run by five agencies with 6,000 employees this 8·the voice in the wilderness fall/winter 2011 quarterly edition

separation of church and state the first ten amendments bill of rights were ratified effective december 15 1791 amendment i freedom of religion speech and the press rights of assembly and petition reads as follows congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibit the free exercise thereof or abridging the freedom of speech or of the press or the right of the people peaceably to assemble and to petition the government for a redress of grievances it seems among believers in conservative and fundamental circles across america a lack of understanding exists concerning our biblical as well as constitutional responsibility to stand against the liberal attacks on our country repeatedly i ve heard the statement there is no place for politics in the church with that is a willingness to swallow hook line and sinker the outright perversion of the founding fathers original intent that is especially apparent concerning the phrase separation of church and state dr david gibbs in understanding the constitution writes it should be carefully noted that the first amendment says absolutely nothing about the separation of church and state in fact that phrase is found nowhere in the constitution or in the bill of rights separation was a doctrine imposed on america by the united states supreme court in a decision everson vs board of education interpreting the establishment clause in 1947 the middle of the twentieth century nearly two hundred years after the clause was drafted 10·the voice in the wilderness fall/winter 2011 quarterly edition the bill of rights

this phrase which is so prevalent in modern court decisions and which is alleged so frequently to represent a legitimate constitutional principle was first used in 1802 by president thomas jefferson in an exchange of letters with the baptist association of danbury connecticut in order to assure the baptists that the government would never be permitted to interfere with the church yet against all reason this phrase from a letter written by a man who took no part in the drafting of the first amendment has been seized upon by our courts for the past fifty years to deny citizens many of the rights that were once understood to be protected under our constitution in referring to this wall of separation jefferson was borrowing from the metaphor of roger williams a fellow baptist and rhode island s champion of religious freedom williams had previously written of a gap in the hedge or wall of separation between the garden of the church and the wilderness of the world the founders own understanding of the establishment clause does not support the modern view of a complete church-state separation which is really interpreted by modern courts to mean a separation of god and government tragically god s people have abdicated their biblical responsibility to be salt and light the founders believed that god and his word were absolutely essential to the governing of this nation for more resources visit www.thevoiceinthewilderness.org ·11

the plan of the master weaver our lives are but fine weavings that god and we prepare each life becomes a fabric planned and fashioned in his care we may not always see just how the weavings intertwine but we must trust the master s hand and follow his design for he can view the pattern upon the upper side while we must look from underneath and trust in him to guide sometimes a strand of sorrow is added to his plan and though it s difficult for us we still must understand that it s he who fills the shuttle it s he who knows what s best so we must weave in patience and leave to him the rest not till the loom is silent and the shuttles cease to fly shall god unroll the canvas and explain the reason why the dark threads are as needed in the weaver s skillful hand as the threads of gold and silver in the pattern he has planned -author unknown 12·the voice in the wilderness fall/winter 2011 quarterly edition
