quarterly newsletter issue #3 june 2010 bay #8 3530 11a st ne calgary ab canada t2e 6m7 1.877.356.0707 office@aymi.ca www.aymi.ca 2010 bootcamp start dates bc july 4th sk july 25th ns july 11th nb august 8th jesus said go it is time that we get ready to tell others about the hope that is in us we have been amazed year after year as the holy spirit continues to show up and radically change the focus and passion of young people as they encounter him they are filled with love for jesus and the world around them street invaders is about youth missions and ultimately walking into a deeper and more real faith adventure continued inside summer youth missions er youth mis r youth m report larry moore aymi executive director it s almost summer though in calgary that is hard to believe and with summer comes the promise of the lord s presence afresh in the lives of students during our street invaders program i can hardly believe that this is year 22 for what started out with about 22 young people and a handful of leaders since that time we have seen thousands of people won to jesus along with hundreds of students influenced to be disciples of christ we just completed another year of lifeforce teams as well where we saw many people touched by the presence and love of christ continued inside thanks kevin we want to say a huge `thanks to kevin friesen who has been involved with us here at aymi and street invaders for at least the past 100 years or so kevin has always had a heart for students and their potential and god has used him in great ways especially through our street invaders program this will be his last summer with us here at aymi/street invaders and we want to publicly honor him for his contribution over the years and thank the lord for lives that have been changed as a result of his influence thanks kevin for making a difference!

report larry moore aymi executive director so now what what does the next season hold for aymi and where do we feel that he is taking us not long ago i felt strongly about a number of potential opportunities that could be very strong influencers for the kingdom within the student culture of our country but i wanted to make sure that it wasn t simply a good idea that i had come up with so i asked the lord to confirm whether it was actually him inspiring this or not i asked for a specific sign for 3 of the ideas and received what i felt was undeniable confirmation for 2 of them i am happy to share them with you today motivational media if you read our newsletter you will have heard about legacy 1 ­ the hip-hop skate turntablism and spoken word ministry that will be directed by greg and chantel denie this cutting edge team will focus on booking opportunities in local secular schools where they will be able to use these tools to share a strong message of hope the message will be `what legacy will you leave behind they will be available for classes on dance and will be offering schools the opportunity to help them establish their own dance program they will also have other presentations that will be used in neutral or christian settings to share the truth of christ the team will be highly evangelistic in their hearts and minds so please pray for them if you are interested in booking them for your church contact our offices www.legacyone.ca or call 403-717-0707 the second opportunity is a partnership we are developing with motivational media assemblies from california mma is the number 1 school assembly program in the usa and has historically been very prevalent in canada as well up to a few years ago the multimedia presentation is set on 3 screens and uses current movie clips and music to deal with lifestyle issues that students struggle with today each presentation is adapted for senior high junior high or elementary schools due to the fact that almost every student goes to movies rents dvd s or watches them on tv/online the presentation is extremely attractive to them because they recognize the clips as well mma uses music and speaks from current bands and artists to help with the presentation each year there is a different focus for the new presentation while keeping the previous years available we believe that we have the ability to present to hundreds of schools across the country mma will be led by brian and meryl reesor check it out at www.motivationalmedia.ca or call us at our offices for more information ­ 403-717-0707 for aymi to see these opportunities get off the ground and be realized to their greatest potential we must start well to start well we need the following a people who will pray for these ministries and the people who lead them sign up for our email prayer ministry by sending us your name and email to prayer@aymi.ca b we need to raise $20,000.00 each for these teams to purchase the equipment that they need for their presentations c we need 1 reliable minivan for each of the teams to travel in if you or someone you know can help us with any of these needs please contact us asap our goal is to see each of these opportunities launched as of september 1st 2010 thanks for believing in us and in what jesus can do through the lives of students summer youth missions where and when we are excited about the vision the lord has given us to take our two and three week summer programs into as many places in canada as possible we run two-week programs on both coasts in nova scotia new brunswick and british columbia as well as 3 week program in saskatchewan si mb we are excited to announce our plans to open a new two-week summer program in winnipeg manitoba in 2011.

2010 how street invaders works we begin with a boot camp training experience that focuses on relevant discipleship issues and spending real quality time in god s presence and the word each missions team is given the opportunity to train and prepare together as well as in general sessions the last part of the program is an amazing mission experience for the team as they move forward to partner with hosting churches and bring a concentrated effort of sharing jesus love and message of hope to targeted areas or groups we run missions regionally nationally and internationally let your heart jump my heart jumps when i hear of the outstanding things god does or speaks through his word when was the last time you experienced a jolt sometimes god uses things to bring us a peace that he is in control but other times his prerogative is to use a circumstance or message to excite us into action i can remember how difficult it was to sleep the night before i went downhill skiing for one of the first times i was too excited to sleep the same thing happened before i went on my first mission to thailand and china what kind of rush and adventure are you waiting for jesus is an exciting god he may be the lamb but he is also the lion and he is no tame lion i remember seeing a grizzly bear on the other side of a lake in northern bc i will never forget how loud it roared i felt very alive especially after getting back in my car just in case we have a strong want and need in us for something great and amazing to happen in our lives jesus is that great and amazing one that will fill our lives with real and expanding life jesus said that if anyone was thirsty they should come to him and he would give them a river to overflow out of them that is not just a glass of water to drink are you ready to start living jesus said i am the way the truth and the life what is holding you back from having that amazing and overflowing life jesus gave us a real clue about finding life he said if anyone would lose his life for my sake he will find it what have you got that you need to lose or let go of can you believe that jesus will keep his word and will give you his life and power if you will simply let go of controlling your own life there is a world of change waiting for you if you step out of your own life and into the life that has freely been given for you will you try and make sense and get meaning and satisfaction in this life or is it in an alternate life the life jesus offers what choice will you make today about the life you allow to beat in your chest it is time for something and someone to make your heart jump we are also excited to announce street invaders move missions over vacation experience this is a portable training and missions opportunity where we will set up the training and missions where and when you need them if you provide the people we will set up the training and the mission for example spring break is an optimum time to get out of the snow and go and make a real difference we are open to families for this program there are a lot more meaningful things to do than what the resorts offer we want you to get involved if you want to grow in your faith and you have his love overflowing in your heart you need to consider this we have opportunities for people of all ages ­ especially youth from 13-19 yrs we need solid leaders for our teams as well as churches to partner with us for our missions we can work with you and your church to set up a mission or even to consider running a full program out of your facilities the time is now let s make ourselves available to show jesus to the world ben kostamo associate director of ministries

for all your design needs .com another successful year has come to a close with lifeforce the year began with 2 international teams and 1 national team and finished with many lives touched changed saved and healed our team in malta and n africa was marked by more young people making decisions fo follow christ than we ve ever had there before the team made good friendships with the local youth and performed wonderfully in the schools youth groups and outreaches they held there the strong relationships formed with the youth has been evidenced by the emails we ve received in the office asking about the team when we had a hiccup in our itineraries near the close of the mission an impact has been made in malta the team in saskatoon has opened up so many doors it s hard to keep up with the work they did as mentors with big brothers/big sisters volunteering in local outreaches time in the hospital with patients and a short term mission trip with inner city youth to tobago we ve received nothing but opportunities to push forward in the future one of the principals of an inner city school opened his arms to our leaders one morning and said how can you help me in the philippines our team worked closely with a church that brought as much to our team as our guys did to them every week the team loved children in an orphanage served food to people that live in squatter villages and taught youth about christ through words and deeds the team was so taken by the country they ve all expressed the desire to return again one day jesus truly worked in and through us again this year all glory to him lindsay hodges lifeforce director pray for our ministries join our prayer list by emailing us your address at prayer@aymi.ca l-r brenden branscombe daniel moore kirstie seier robin klimchuck we got interns thanks to a summer grant we are excited to have brenden kirstie and robin interning at the aymi office this summer we are also excited to have daniel helping us out with database management kirstie and brenden are on facebook talking about street invaders and all the exciting things happening this summer robin is heading up our database redevelopment project kirstie is also blogging about street invaders check out the link at streetinvaders.ca summer youth missions ministries international
