quarterly newsletter issue #1 september 2009 bay #8 3530 11a st ne calgary ab canada t2e 6m7 1.877.356.0707 office@aymi.ca www.aymi.ca street invaders south africa team 2009 summer recap wow that s the best way to describe this past summer s 21st street invaders outreach we hosted programs in british columbia saskatchewan and new brunswick and for the first time in 21 years we almost had too many students thankfully we were able to find enough missions and no one had to be sent home without doing an outreach continued on page 2 report we re at it again within just a couple of weeks we ll be starting our 19th season at lifeforce teams international after taking some time to re-evaluate where we re going as a ministry this year has provided us with a number of young adults that are eagerly looking forward to ministering on one of our three teams continued on page 4 the scriptures tell us that we are incapable of finding the depths of the love of god and it s likely fair to say that god s grace mercies provision and blessings are equally unfathomable thankfully that s why trusting him on our journey can make for such a powerful ride continued on page 3

summer youth missions street invaders is life changing you meet so many people that will touch your life and help you jayde age 17 this was a year of many new things 2009 is the first year that we have had 5 international missions scotland ecuador los angeles south africa and hong kong all with full teams and amazing stories of god s grace and power we saw many people come to know jesus some who were healed and several who came back to walk with jesus again we want to say a huge thanks to all the people who were involved this year those who prayed for us over this past year those who have given to us financially those who have given of their time to be involved as either paid or volunteer staff and the hundreds of students who grew closer to jesus as a result of this summer s program we would ask you to continue to partner with us in the future as our plans are already underway for 2010 and beyond for more information check out the new street invaders website at www.streetinvaders.ca bootcamp dates for 2010 british columbia july 4th to 18th saskatchewan july 25th to august 15th new brunswick august 8th to 22nd international team locations to be announced soon street invaders is a time where you really realize who god is every night is great every second is fun it has been an amazing time for me and i would recommend it for you philip age 15 the best part is just being challenged to go to new levels and the love in the atmosphere bethany age 16 the most memorable experience so far is probably the worship and chapel at night the sermons have really spoken to me and i love the songs we do shanise age 13 you can feel the presence of god as soon as you walk in the front doors you re never leaving the same marianne age 17 there was a huge hunger for god we had many respond quickly when we called people up for prayer the one night we had given a challenge about responding to god s call on their lives and most of the one hundred or so youth came forward and there was a huge release of the prophetic and spiritual gifts were being called out in the lives of many of the youth as god s spirit came and filled them up jane team leader

boot camp review report this has been a terrific year at aymi and we have experienced all of these attributes from his hand there is a strong sense of a god-ordained momentum in all of the ministries we are currently involved in and a sense that there are new projects to come with the addition of great new staff to our ministries we are seeing many of the plans that we have had on hold start to come to pass we hope that you enjoy reading some of the testimonies from the summer s street invaders outreaches at the same time we hope you will partner with us to see the goals he has given us come to pass here are some ways that you can help if you aren t already a member of our prayer ministry please join up today we will send you an email twice a month with the areas we need you to pray for our goal is to have 1,000 people who will pray for us each month just send us your email address and we ll get you started we need to have a number of people/churches/businesses to partner with us financially each month some time ago the lord directed us to begin gideon s army and find 300 people to pledge at least $30.00 a month to the ministry would you consider joining with us for more information see the enclosed gideon s army form or contact our office directly we are looking for people who believe in our ministry who would be willing to host an evening in their home for a coffee and dessert night it would be for individuals and couples that would be interested in finding out more about aymi and our ministries we are interested in doing this across the country so if you would be able to help us with this please get in touch with us as soon as possible if you have time and are within the calgary area we need regular volunteers at our offices for administrative work please feel free to call us if you are available as i came into the first session of boot camp this year i was struck by the intensity of worship and passion for god that was evident in the atmosphere this level of spiritual response is nothing unusual to me or to boot camps but it was unusual for the first day of camp the hunger for worship continued on through the week i took some time to think and pray about what i had observed and experienced i feel as if there is a new intensity that is flowing in the youth and the result is going to be in souls saved so often we spend too much time dancing around our own issues and hang-ups and we miss out on what god is doing of course god is concerned with me he loves me but he is concerned enough with me to help me get the focus off of myself and to direct my gaze to the things that really matter ie things like himself and people who have problems far beyond mine eternal hell is a pretty serious problem and if i am unable to recognize the urgency of soul rescue then i need to question if i really understand what jesus has done for me whenever we have greater clarity of the bigger picture we can move forward with our lives it s not that we do not have our own issues still to face but some things are better dealt with in a way in which they are not our consuming focus god needs to be our consuming focus cops paramedics firefighters and other rescue personnel get sick experience incredible discomfort and pain sometimes in the course of their duties when they are in the middle of an emergency they do not have the luxury of focusing on their own problems sometimes they can do something quickly for themselves and then they get back at it other times they need to keep focused and leave their own issue alone for a while perhaps the intensity of their work helps them to ignore their own discomfort and when they have finished with their emergency their pain may have passed or does not seem as big of an issue anymore of course there are always exceptions things that must be dealt with before we can be any good to anyone but we still need to learn to capture our focus on jesus not ourselves if we want to see any real change i am excited about a great future with street invaders we want to see a powerful impact in the lives of all of the students with the result of souls saved because of the obedience and passion of young people you do not have to be at boot camp or on a mission to be a street invader you simply need to get your focus on god recognize opportunities to be a witness and step out god is doing something great we are calling out those who have a passionate heart to join in on his adventure keep jesus in their sights and really live in his love thanks to all who have been a part of our ministry family and to those who will accept the challenge to join with us at aymi we believe that students are worth whatever effort is necessary to bring them to know christ to walk with them through their `stuff and to see them flourish as adult disciples if you believe this too then let s work together to see it happen ben kostamo associate director of ministries larry moore aymi executive director
